2.1 is referring to the speaker setup. 2 = Front Left/Right and .1 = Subwoofer. So 5.1 = 5 speakers i.e. 2 front, 1 cener, 2 rear and 1 subwoofer.
Perhaps he's confusing the Bluetooth version.. not by how many speakers. 2.1 speakers, Bluetooth "capable ".

2.1 Bluetooth ????

Does this make a huge difference?

Asking because I always see 5.0 bluetooth, etc.
I am not familiar with all the bluetooth versions

THanks in advance
2.1 is a description of how many audio channels, not the Bluetooth version. 2 means stereo, the .1 means one subwoofer. Like how 5.1 is a basic surround sound + sub.

I'd have to check the actual BT version on these, but I think they just mean this is a 2.1 system. 2 satellites and 1 sub.

They are 2.1 channel speakers, not 2.1 bluetooth, I'm sure is Bluetooth 5.0

These are not the THX certified model. I almost picked one up at $50 but decided to stay with my wired THX certified version. I can hook that up to an amp as well, and it makes them sound like audiophile speakers

Was $50 last time, but at $59 still a good deal for a good pair of 2.1 speakers.

Annoying thing about these speakers is that they're always on though. There's no power switch on the control pod.
I have an older set of altec lansing 2.1 speakers and kinda same thing. Always on. But the volume control is getting worn out so I never dare touch it. I have a seperate volume control now for it but it's always on now

So you can turn off Bluetooth on these? I have avoided this speaker because I thought the Bluetooth stays on at all times. unless you pull the plug.
Yeah the newer bluetooth models allow you to disable Bluetooth by pressing in the dial.

If you connect it to an outlet switch, do the speakers pop when you cut the power?

Yes and no. As long as you leave the power on it will stay have in BT or wired connection. If you turn the power off and back on they will default to BT rather than the last mode used. For me using a master slave power strip, when my computer turned off it turns off the speakers, and when turned back on it required pushing the mode button to change mode back to wired.

The BT on the original Promedia 2.1 was an absolute nightmare. Glad to see that they finally fixed it.
Are these still lower quality (ie: lighter) than the non BT version? I see that they are still missing THX certification.

I have both. The wired thx version sounds noticeably louder and clearer. At $50 these are worth every cent though.

Great speakers but so annoying that there is no on/off switch. You have to unplug them.
What about using a smart plug with Alexa or other voice controlled assistant?

This is a really good deal if they sound anything close to the 10-15 year old model with thx certification.

The real question though…this or the hk onyx 4 that sells for $100 ? Mine is being delivered tomorrow, and ultimately I don't need both.

All things considered, if this is a better sounding system, is it also worth the hassle of returning the hk and waiting for this?

Im installing it into a semi truck as a multipurpose speaker for listening to music while driving and at night it would double as television speakers.

The monitor I ordered doesn't have internal speakers so I'm going to need to be able to have something external.

I have airpod pros and the new Bose quiet comfort (thanks Verizon for screwing up the price and Best Buyfor honoring the price match)

Im actually impressed with the switching using two devices with the Bose but I don't know how many hours a day I could stand to wear in ear headphones.

Legally I'm not supposed to drive with both earphones in either and I'm going to want to be able to control either device with my phone for ease of pausing playback.

Sorry to get off track but any advice is appreciated

So what BT codecs / modes do these even support?
Bluetooth 5.2 low energy has new codecs supporting conferencing and stuff and low power drain for
battery powered tablets, phones, etc. Then there are several intermediate quality / bit rate codecs,
and a couple high-fi-ish marginal ones...

Idle power consumption when just sitting there not playing but turned on with the volume control at whatever normal setting it would be?
