Been with them 6-7 years and absolutely love them. Might depend on area of service though.

Do they still have that activate within 45 days requirement?

Has Mint done anything to improve security and avoid SIM swapping? I was happy with their service and pricing, but the lax security drove me away.
You mean like using the SIM card in any phone? Um, isn't that what we want?

"Limited time offer, for new customers only. " so you can't transfer your number from another carrier to mint to use this promo, right?

I'd recommend everyone order a free trial sim from them to see how well the service works in your area. It's free for physical or esim and you get 250mb of data. Don't trust the maps on their website. In my area I get very good speeds unless I'm somewhere extremely populated like a sports event. You will always have issues in those scenarios.

Amex is running a similar promo, used it on my gold card two days ago. Spend at least $90 and get a $45 statement credit. I was able to purchase a full year of service for $215 after receiving the statement credit

Over in the Amex deal thread people are saying you can "prepay" (essentially add $90 in credit) to your account once you have your plan set up. Purchase this from Best Buy, then add $90 in credit to your account.

That is what i was thinking... purchase the 4 gb a month "buy three months, get three months free" deal. Set up new Mint account. Then use my Amex card to add $90 to my new account wallet and get a $45 credit back from Amex. Then use my wife's Amex card to add an additional $90 to my new account wallet and get another $45 back from Amex. Will have a total of $180 in wallet and only paid $90.

Doing the math.... $45 for the first six months. Then use the $180 in the wallet (which only cost me $90) to pay for another year. So it would only cost $135 for a year and a half of service.

Only downside.... will have to get a new phone number. But since I also have a google voice number, I don't really care too much about that....

Is that the best way to max out this promotion?

Garbage service - so check with a trial first. Even worse customer service. Completely incompetent.

Amex gives $45 back if you spend $90. I'm set for two years right now...

Planning to do the same but on 10GB plan, and we should be able to port in existing number with other providers as well is my understanding.

Does "Not available for customers with a Mint plan within last 90 days of activation or trial customers" mean it is by line or by account? If I wanted to buy two of these for two lines will both lines get 6 months of service or just one line? Thanks.

I know it says this, but I didn't activate mine until well after 45 days. Something like 3 - 6 months after purchase. I actually called beforehand because I was concerned about this, and I think they ended up "reactivating" the card or something, so I actually got double what I had paid for. I wouldn't bet on that happening again though.

I'm specifically discussing a scam involving SIM swap, if that wasn't clear, somehow. Sounds like you need to educate yourself on this issue because it can lead to ID theft.
