I can't speak for the newest RP towers they just released, but Danny Richie did a review of some of those towers. Basically, they're not well engineered but some people do like the sound anyways.

This Polk line is very well liked. Audioholics gave the Polk R700 a 5/5 rating and they lean into the engineering and measurements a fair amount. I would go this route over the Klipsch.

It's actually been measured to be 89db but that's not unusual for speakers in it's class. You don't need a big amp to drive this. I would say most receivers should handle this.

These are definitely well regarded speakers. I haven't personally heard them though.

I like Andrew Robinson's reviews on YT, and he gives these a glowing review. I also just like to listen to Andrew talk. lol.

They are same price at multiple retailers. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...nHNraWcf60

Is the Costco 75watt denon receiver enough to push these speakers?
Prob. not.. You would need something like a BasX A-2 to power these.

How does this compare to klipsch reference premiere? I'm rich but also frugal. I like the design
I don't have these Polks but I upgraded my Klipsch RP-280F to the Polk LSIM 703 & 706 (the previous gen of this line) and I could hear better mid-range & sweet human voice. But the system volume is lower than before & I had to crank up the Vol a bit (ie. more power from the Amp). If you only need HomeTheater purpose, Klipsch would be fine & cheaper to run.

Is this overkill for a home entertainment center? We have our living room with a big screen TV and i'm debating on how to set up the surround sound...not sure where to even start or how much to allocate $ wise. Any recs on where I should start?

Updated OP to make the final $1460 if you have Chase Freedom/PP. $1372 if you have Chase Freedom and are military, nurse, teacher, first responder.

Sadly students do not qualify.

Promo Code: OCT5 applies for everyone.

I would also check Polk's website. It says its out of stock currently but if it does become available you can sign up for their newsletter and get an additional 10%. I didn't read the T&C of the coupon code so it might exclude this speaker.

Anyways the price above is the best I could currently find.

Polk is a brand that seems to get hated on and I've never understood why. They seem to put out good sounding speakers, at a good price and they usually look good too.

Part of it is deserved. Polk has mass manufactured a lot of crap sold at stores like Sears/ BB, etc basically the same way Schwin has sold 200 dollar bikes at Walmart.

Their mid-upper echelon stuff like the LSiM line is competitive with the best of them in its price segment.

I bought these during the July 4th sale at $899 per speaker. Just a disclaimer, I haven't listened to dozens of speakers so keep that in mind.

Bought these to replace smaller Wharfedale Diamond 10.7 towers in a 2.0 setup. They got great reviews from all the big audiophile Youtubers.

What I like about these:
- the clarity is really nice. I've had multiple instances where I thought I was listening to an alternate recording of a song because it sounded so different and new.
- the bass is so much better than my Wharfedales. It's not just more present, but it has texture in a way that I had not experienced before.
- they are really big speakers but pretty forgiving with placement. I have mine in a small room (11.5' x 11.5') for now and they do well close to the real wall. I'm sure they would shine more in a bigger room but I have little kids so...

All the audio guys say these speakers do their best with some power. I have about 200watts per channel going into them from a power amp and they do great.

Do they need a sub? Everything I've read online is about 50% yes and 50% no. I'd say it depends. If you want enhanced bass for older music that was not mixed to emphasize bass, then yes you need a sub. Alternatively, I just use an EQ when I want a little bass boost. You will not have a bass problem with any newer dance/R&B type music.

I have really enjoyed these speakers thus far. Very fun to listen to and a very flat response so nothing is too enhanced in any area. Certainly recommended at this price.

I wish they were in white. How big of a difference between these and the R600s?

Anyone know how this compares to the LSiM series? the 707 or 705s?
