Comgrow 10W Laser Engraving Machine Comgo Z1, FAC Diode Laser Cutter / Engraver $244.30

Comgrow has the Comgo Z1 10W laser engraver, for $244.30 instead of $349 with the code Z130 from the title there.
It's the lowest sale price that I've seen so for for the 10W version, which is better for cutting than the 5W version.

Shipping from Comgrow's US warehouse is free.

It has a laser module with a real 10W light power output, which equals to what others sell as a '40W' laser. The efficiency is also increased by the small focus point of the laser (LD+FAC technology, 80x80µm laser spot). Compared to a 5W laser you need fewer passes for cutting wood and engraving metals is easier.

This allows you to cut and engrave all kinds of materials, like wood, leather, dark acrylic or cardboard. Engraving of some metal surfaces is also possible.

The Z1 can move 15.74*15,74 inches (40*40cm), so bigger parts like cutting board can be engraved. Also you can move the laser module upwards for 4.1 inches to find the correct focus.
There's a wifi module built into the Z1. Normally you would use it with your PC or laptop, there's the free LaserGRBL software available, which allows you to import pictures or vector graphics for engraving.

The Robo CNC [comgrow.com] is also on sale with the code SALE20 for $191.20.

These lasers are fun, but fairly deceptive in price point. $245 doesn't seem bad, but you quickly realize you need a honeycomb, air assist, enclosure, a way to vent the enclosure, rotary ect.

I just picked up an Xtool D1 pro 20w (albeit it is a much more expensive machine) but the grand total was around $2000 after tax and stuff.. The machine itself was $1100.. but yeah, just something to keep in mind that I was not aware of.

Most of these accessories can be replaced by DIY builds. Instead of a honeycomb bed just get a piece of expanded metal from the hardware store.
An air assist can be build with an aquarium air pump and the nozzle can be 3d printed.
The enclosure can be a wooden box.

Oh yeah, and for more fun, the video on thier web site shows the name as "Comgo" while the rest of the site says Comgro. Not a bad entry level price though.

That's a significant amount of time and effort. You can DIY anything, but it doesn't necessarily make it a SD

Bought this laser recently and it's been nothing but a pain. Diode wouldn't fire, assembly instructions are very lacking, and the comgrow air assist kit didn't fit well. Wish I had paid more for an ortur or xtool model

I own this unit. So a few things to say about it. First complaint was that they did not send all of the parts necessary to build it. I was missing a few of the "T" nuts to assemble the frame. I ended up ordering some on amazon for about $10. Second thing they did not include was any kind of device to set the proper focal distance. Nor was there any included information about how to properly set the distance. These diode based lasers are VERY VERY sensitive to the focal distance. Did I forget to mention how sensitive diode lasers are to focal distance? The free software is kinda junk so I bought a license for Lightburn and that worked well with it. It is relatively easy to modify so i made mine 900 x 600 mm to cut and engrave larger material. I do highly recommend investing in an enclosure and some kind of ventilation and a blowing mechanism. Mine barely can cut through 1/8" plywood and i have the 10 watt version. Other than that it works pretty well and I have made some interesting things with it.
