If anyone here has owned both phones, some feedback about how the Pixel 6a compares to the Pixel 7 would definitely be appreciated. Thanks.
I turned off 5G on the 6a but have been fine (so far) leaving it on with the 7 Pro.
Having the 5x lens on the 7 Pro is great for me. I used to spend lots of money on digital SLRs and lenses but I got tired of spending all that money and lugging around heavy lenses... so if photos are important to you then it's worth upgrading to the 7 Pro.
Fingerprint sensor on the 7 Pro works well enough... but after upgrading to Android 13 the 6a sensor seemed to work much better.
Anyway, is it a worthwhile upgrade to the 7? I'd say yes if you can get a good/great trade-in deal (if they still have those), or if you want to upgrade to a 7 Pro for the cameras.... or if you have connectivity issues... otherwise I'd say wait for the 7a or Pixel 8.
Oh, the 6a also "only" has 6GB of RAM and the 7 Pro has a whopping 12GB of RAM... so if you run apps that benefit from a lot of RAM then there's another possible reason to upgrade.
• I'm tempted on this. Moto G7's been good for comin' up on three years, but the battery's sometimes wonky lately. Camera was never great.
• This would be the most I've ever spent on a phone, used mostly for email, socials, SMS and the occasional call. It's not even November yet. Should I wait???
Thanks in advice for your thoughtful advice!
Target - 14 days for new 6a. Are there open-box refurbs? Live Chat told me no Extended-Holiday returns. No restocking fee.
Best Buy - 15 days return for new or open-box 6a, no Extended-Holiday returns.
Amazon - New 6a has Extended-Holiday return option, but do Amazon Warehouse Pixel 6a? Info at link makes me think 30 days to return, unless the item is "renewed", then it's 90 days?

My message came out sounding more serious than I intended. What I meant to say that this is a POS phone and is barely usable outside of the house.
In order to use GPS, you first have to unlock using a POS sensor, then you have to fiddle with the data connection to get it to work before Google Maps can load, and then there's an issue with Google Maps app on this phone. If you're at the route options screen and don't immediately start navigation, the app miscalculates everything based on the original location when you entered your destination, not your current location.
It's best to use a more reliable phone for anything important. I tried trading on this phone and that was a disaster.

Bought the 6a on release because I didn't want to spend $1000 on a phone.
The phone is fast enough, camera works great, I actually like that it's NOT a glass back.
My two complaints:
1. I'm on Verizon and the reception is horrible. 0 bars in places my 3xl gets 2 bars. 1 bar in places the 3xl gets 3 bars, dropped calls etc. I'm not exaggerating. In my case, it's really this bad.
2. The speakers are noticably more quiet. Id say they are like 70% the loudness of my 3xl. They also get covered up easily by your hands when you're trying to take a video.
Almost went for the pixel 7 and trade in my 3xl, but decided better to keep 3xl for unlimited photo backups.
