Great bar for the money. Some ppl seem to have trouble with Vizio products but mine has worked flawlessly.

Do you have the same model? Do you agree with rtings that it has clear dialogue for tv shows?

Only thing is I would rather get one with a subwoofer built into the bar as i don't really want a subwoofer separate. My yamaha soundbar has a receiver that came with it and it has a subwoofer i the receiver and then some bars are also designed to have everything all in the bar.

Yes I have this model. You can adjust the center channel by itself for more clear dialog. I have it set at about the middle. I had a Yamaha yas 203 before this and this bar blows it outta the water all the way around.

Mine is YHT-S400. I see mine came out even long before yours so shows how old mine is, but I love the way it sounds. Sometimes it really does sound like it throws effects across the room and for tv shows I like the clarity. But the stupid thing stopped working. If I turn it on it goes right back off, which means either a power surge happened or something damaged.

But I liked how it had the sub built into the receiver. Also the main negative I see people say about this vizio is that it doesn't have much bass. For tv shows that wouldn't matter, but would be nice for movies to have some.

I would say this thing has plenty of bass. I watched the new Top Gun and the dog fights in the air were amazing. I mean it's not going to sound like a 12-in full powered subwoofer but it feels quite the punch my wife already yells at me for having it turned up too high. Cnet rated it best Dolby Atmos bar under $1,000. Rtings rated it at best budget mid-range bar. For some reason they rated the Vizio elevate over it but this bar out scored it. Not sure how that works
And unless you receive a dud I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm happy with the $350 I paid

Speaking of atmos... Is atmos the ONLY way soundbars that have "upfiring" speakers do anything above you? Do all other audio standards lack any "above you" effects?

I think there is dts virtual:x setting that tries to simulate directional sound but yes as far as I know the atmos up firing speakers are the only true directional output sound on top
