For those wondering a 6700m and an RTX 3060 are roughly on the same level in terms of overall performance (wattage not withstanding). Certain games perform differently with Nvidia versus AMD so keep that in mind if you're game specific in your usage.

My only issue is the fans. When running on battery, this laptop is cool, and the fans are completely silent. As soon as you plug in the charger, the laptop gets hot, and the fans start to run (even if you are browsing only). The same thing happens when you connect it to a secondary monitor (HDMI and USB-c output is connected to dGPU).

There's a reason why there are so many low wattage 3060, 3070, and 3080's and why some of them throttle so aggressively.
A 6700m will match a 3070 Running at about 100w, which is a very common throttle limit for anything over a 15 minute benchmark for allot of laptops.

I don't know why the thermals and the power spikes are so out of control on the ampere chips. It's not as big of a deal with desktop parts. It's the same reason why (but not nearly as bad) there hasn't been an AMD discrete graphics card laptop worth getting for awhile, because they couldn't compete with performance per watt.
However, I kept getting black screens and crashes on my desktop with a slightly older good gold 750w psu and upgraded to a 1000w titanium psu. I love ray tracing and the little physics and stuff and performance of the cards but The random electrical spikes and heat spikes they pull is on a new level.
AMD drivers were really crappy for like a year or so about 10 years ago. Nvidia drivers are ok, but I've had way more issues with Nvidia drivers the past 3 or 4 years then AMD drivers. I have to tinker around and roll back drivers and stuff every so often. It's been a really long time since I had issues like that with my GF or sons rigs. The Nvidia drivers are good and they always fix stuff pretty fast, it's not a big deal. But the AMD stuff almost never has any kind of problems with games, maybe some kind of bug with windows every once in a while..... I think it's because of the consoles and the console support, they are all AMD hardware.
Big piece of advise, you never switch from an Nvidia GPU to an AMD GPU without doing a fresh install of Windows, or at the bare minimum running a program to completely wipe the driver's as much as possible. Nvidia is the best, but they have always played dirty with that sort of thing. Less important, idk if it matters, but I have always paired Intel with Nvidia and AMD with AMD, for CPU and GPU.
Cheers 🍻
Learned to live with it, the performance is still really good.
But I got my GF this

And a review.

It dicks mine into the ground, mostly just because it doesn't throttle the same or have some of the wierd issues mine does, idk if I just got unlucky twice in a row or what.
Mine was twice as much. The only thing I like a little better on mine is the screen but the screen on this one is still really good.
It's the best laptop for 1100 new, end of story, even though it's AMD. I want to get another one for myself but can't bring myself to do it.
