Yeah I really just need an upgrade to my center so I'm in a similar boat. I have a pair of focal 806v that were gifted to me, but I'm still using a micca center channel that has really never been to snuff and I've just gotten by with by amplifying the volume on it. Wish the q250C wasn't so absurdly expensive
You guys should buy and split a pair together 😂
I got my pair a year ago and absolutely love them.
Bought a 5.1 setup with Elac UB52. Like them overall, but miss the stunning mids of the setup I just have room for. How does the Q150 handle being close backed up to a wall? I appreciate the front porting of the Elac's since I don't have a good setup to allow for everything to be spaced perfectly away from walls.
I wanted to get these for my front L & R, but all of the KEF center speakers put me way out of my budget. would be nice if they made a Q150 center, or at least sold these as singles so i could buy a 3rd as a center.
I bought an extra pair and used just one as a center. It's been great and totally worth it. They work perfectly laid on their side.

It has an impact on the low end frequency response but mine still sound great.
You can always put in the included port plugs for a cleaner response at the sacrifice of some low end. If you are pairing these with a subwoofer it probably doesn't matter one way or the other.
Literally in the same exact situation. I currently have my 1.3a's but got a white turntable and kind of want matching white speakers.
The original NHT speakers are so good. I've flipped mine upside down as I put mine on a bookshelf and these were designed for speaker stands (woofer over tweeter). Maybe not the most elegant, but better sound with tweeter over woofer on bookshelf. I also notch the treble down one on the receiver. I pair them with a NHT 10" powered sub. NHT went to crap after the original iteration of the company changed. If I changed speakers, these KEFs are what I would get. Great speakers for the $299.
Are these any good for near field on my desk on my PC?
I use these for my PC. Works well nearfield but more so because you can flip these on their side with no issues because of the concentric driver. I did, however, have to plug the ports in the back since it was close to the wall.

They sell single units at Accessories4Less but the pricing sucks. $200-229 on sale for a single.
Smaller actually when you consider you don't have the surface area of the dust cap moving air like most 5" woofers have. These are really tweeter/midrange vs tweeter/woofer.I did a head to head with the previous q100 against the roughly same price Elac B6. I had a budget of $300-ish and the KEF's are overpriced for what they are. $299 should be normal price (with a grille which they're now charging you extra for). The Elac was like listening to a complete speaker. The KEF had no real bass in comparison. The highs were therefore over pronounced. Very thin sounding. You can tell by the midrange's surround, they're aren't designed to move much air. If I listened to stuff like the BeeGee's, chamber music, or other lightweight stuff, the KEF's would have be fine. They got shipped back.
