I'm not saying this card doesn't have value, but that is NOT the break point. If you ONLY spend $2000 on groceries, you'd be better off with the regular blue cash everyday giving you 3% back (e.g., $60 back). The preferred will get you an ADDITIONAL $60 back but it will cost you $95, that's not efficient.

Probably not hard to do with a large family.
$3167 x 0.03 = $95.01
$3167 x 0.06 = $190.02
$2000 x 0.03 = $60
$2000 x 0.06 = $120
$120 - $60 = $60 < $95 annual fee
Is Costco an eligible merchant for 6%? Reward?

According to my 12 month grocery spending summary outside of Costco, I have spent:
$750 on groceries
$800 on (take out) foods and drinks
Edit: at Costco, it shows I have spent $920 on non gasoline purchase (not relevant here but was curious to see the amount as I do my shopping there)
I guess Amex is not for me as I can't come close to the break even point for the 6% cash back reward ?

I need a new modem which would be about $130 and then I have a God of War PS5 controller preordered which is $80. Will prob end up spending $40 on some games or something.
Does that mean I can purchase a physical amazon gift card from best buy online and it would count?
