I like big clamps and I cannot lie. You other SDers can't deny. That when a clamp walks in with an itty bitty grip, with a low price in your feed, you get sprung!
If you're referring to woodworking, bad idea.

Applying excessive clamping pressure causes too much glue to squeeze out and therefor the joint will be weak. You could also damage the workpiece.
Grip tape, from hockey, baseball or skateboarding. Jorgensen should be similar deal at Lowe's if it is like last year.

I like these clamps. I bought a pack last year, and I wish I'd bought more. I guess I'll be paying the extra $2. Still worth it.

Clamps are good but the handles are cheap; hard to grip.

Looks like these have a wooden handle. Haven't tried it yet, but I've seen a tip that you can drill and glue a hex bolt into the end of the handle, which allows you to use an impact driver to tighten these when hand strength isn't sufficient.

Bar clamps are good for a quick clamp, with light-weight force. If you're invested, some pipe clamps are good options as well especially since the distance between the clamp jaws is only limited by the length of pipe you have.

Bought a few of these last year and was happy with them. Also bought a few of the HF version and was unhappy with those, the new ones twist. ( Was using them for laminating long pieces of half to one inch thick boards.)

Agree with the hockey tape wrap for these. I've got a ton of clamps, wrapped them all with hockey tape from Academy sports. Game changer.

I think the 6" clamp is going to really limited, maybe useful on 50% of the times I'd use these clamps.

I have these in 12s and 24s and I like them. Handles are adequate for me for woodworking. I've lost a red rubber end cap (or two) over the years but that is more my fault.

Even at $7 more, I prefer the Jorgensen. Wait until Black Friday, and you may get them for $20-25.

This statement above is spot on. The clamps work when you can tighten them.

The Lowes Jorgenson clamps have rubber grips and are much better. I bought a set of each for a project, and these are harder to use by far than the Lowes ones. They rusted much more/faster when left outside as well, as my my project required them to be outside a few weeks. They held in place, but showed wear.

It is called friction tape, but hockey players have been using it for decades. Just make sure not to mistakenly buy the shinguard tape, because you would be dissapointed in the outcome. we just found the cheapest friction tape we could find because you go through a ton of it. It will wear out over time or get really dirty, so buy a roll or two, as you will find other uses for it.

My suggestion, winter shovels, you know exactly where those hands go after two shovelings.
