I also bought a Metabo chop saw 3ish years ago and haven't had any issues.
The warranty center is an hour round trip, plus the additional time for the warranty center to do the paperwork. The warranty center also charged me a $125 refundable deposit that they will keep if they determine that the damage was not a manufacturer failure. It took about 3 months for them to receive the parts and repair the drill and I received my deposit back when I picked it up.
Since this was my only battery Metabo tool, it was not worth my time and effort plus having $125 tied up for another 3 months or longer to go through the warranty process again. The Craftsman brushless drill was on clearance for $50 or $60 and it was worth the cost not to go though the warranty hassle again especially since the 2 transmissions failed doing non frequent, light duty household duties.
I probably could have also opted for mail in repair but at the time it was not worth the time a effort especially since the brushless Craftsman was available on clearance at my local Lowes at the time.

which ones the Kia?
I bought this set last year and like it so much.
Initially it was the small size, I was swinging between M12 fuel and this, and I picked both eventually, M12 for indoor, Metabo HPT for outdoor.
The handle of triple hammer feels really really good, the triggering is better than M12 IMO, the speed is very controllable. You do need to pull the chuck when you install or uninstall the bit. I have seen pros using this for a living and they really like Metabo HPT as well. They didn't do a good advertisement and Lowes's not gonna promote them. But this is as good as M18 fuel and DeWalt Atomic, compact, good handle, balanced and weight with 3Ah battery, and a nice rotation sound (maybe just for me).

They aren't the cheapest, you could likely find the other top brands at this price (def not brushless though)
As for quick fails, I would expect this more than I would DeWalt or Makita, because, while I think Metabo components are top notch, the inspections/testing aspect of their quality control would suffer just as their marketing does (as mentioned above). For the consumer, this is where the warranty comes into play. (you should've used the lifetime warranty).
I do think they are picking out the top materials before ordering from the chinese factories, I have been extremely impressed with their quality plastics (drop tests) and generous rubberized grips. I specifically noticed this because these are the areas where a companies skimp to save money. I was really surprised Metabo splurges on the nice grips if they are replacing these constantly under lifetime warranty!

To expand on my previous posting and why I didn't go back and continue to have my drill warrantied again.

Good enough for any DIYer - we did kitchen sink, all cabinetry doors, 2 floors flooring, attic, accent wall for tv and many small projects with these tools. It comes with multi volt batteries to work on 18/36v tools.
Don't know about concrete & professional work though. I think for this kind, you need 36v tools of wanted to go with this brand.
