I'm interested in buying one, but have few concerns.
1) Foam ear tips. How does it compare with common silicon ear tips? How long will foam last? As far as I know, Sony does not sell replacement ear tips.
2) No default volume control. Apparently, you can add it via app by replacing Playback or ANC controls. Why not to keep all and allow more custom settings? This is strictly software/firmware issue. It does not make sense.
3) Complaints about fast battery drain and overheating.
a. Firmware 1.4.2 may be responsible for permanent battery damage. Sony is offering free replacement. Reddit Discussion. [reddit.com] dmx0 post
b. Some reviews say turning off voice assistant fixes the problem. https://youtu.be/_JmAZhAiz4I

Which is better?
- Sony WF-1000XM4
- Sony LinkBuds S
- Apple AirPods Pro 2
- Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3
- Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II
- or something else

I would like to get quality Earbuds that last more than 13 months.

I have these (also got them from Secondipity - were practically brand new). Agree with previous comments that they are clunky, but not horribly so. I can walk around with these but would never attempt running with them. I don't mind the Sony tips and I also got the Comply. Not a huge difference for me, but it will depend so much on your own ears. (I use the Comply L tip for the left ear and the Sony M tip for the right.)

Great NC, and nice customizable sound. Even the passive isolation is really good due to the good seal from the ear tips. AP Pro (v1 and prob v2) don't have nearly the same amount of passive isolation. APP are much better for running with because they are very light, but I don't like the sound nearly as much as these Sonys.

Not sure why "Industry Leading" was added to the title, I did not write it.

Jabra Elite 7 Pro has button control (not touch surface like most of competition). Will you feel extra pressure on your ears when you push the button?
I usually don't use controls on the buds. But I heard few years back when I was in the market for the buds that due to touch controls, hair touching the buds will cause unwanted actions.

Which is best is subjective and depends on personalized factors, but in broad terms:

Best ANC: Bose
Best Sound: Sennheiser
Best Adaptive pass thru and ecosystem integration: Apple

The app is funky, but the sound quality for both music and movies is excellent IMO. I had the Bose and gave them to my wife after I got a set of the Sony's. I'm an android guy, so i can't offer compares for the airpods.

I have eyes on jabra elite 7 pro along with the list mentioned. They are $119 on Lenovo and am debating which ones to buy. My uses are phone, work, calls and multi point. 7 pro has multi point connectivity as of now and these Sony buds will get the multipoint soon with software updates. Any thoughts on which one might be better for my use?
I got the same deal from lenovo but had to return due to poor performance during phone calls. Got Sony ones and they are far better in calls and sound is phenomenal. Works great with my Pixel 6 Pro.

My ears didn't like the foam tips so I bought aftermarket silicone tips. Night and day difference. I love these buds now. Excellent sound and I use them for workouts daily with no issues. I tried out quite literally a dozen different mid to high end earbuds before settling on these from Sony. The Jabras kept falling out. Airpod Pros, to me, were a lot of hype compared to the Sony XM4s. Just one man's opinion but I am very happy with this purchase. FYI, sometimes eBay has these on refurb for like 50 bucks less than this price. That's what I bought and have zero issues with them. Good luck to all!!
Can you share which other silicone tips you got that worked well for you? What did you not like about the foam tips? Sizing just was not right for your ears? Thanks.

Thought these didn't have silicone. Now I am confused.
yea...I have foam tips and I've purchased 2 sets. Never had an issue with the weight or them falling out ever and I run with them daily.

I too got the Secondipity refurb on eBay. It was almost brand new without box. I think it comes with a year or 2 years warranty, so it was a better deal overall at $130.

I returned mine because it just wasn't a good fit for me and it kept on falling out while jogging. The audio and NC quality is on par or better than AirPods Pro. The app is easy to use and I like some of the features like pausing audio when you start speaking.

They are so bulky. I returned mine after wearing them for 5 minutes.

Mine also fall out easily. Also, constantly losing connection with my Pixel 6a (in my pocket, possibly certified refurb is culprit), but no one else seems to be experiencing the same disconnect problem. I prefer my cheap off-brand earbuds

Jabra are better for work and calls.

The Sony's have always been poor for work purposes. Don't expect much from the mics.
