I chatted with OnePlus support online.

"I would like to inform you that OnePlus 9 Unlocked devices come with globally unified and unlocked device from the factory itself. It will support all carrier bands.
And OnePlus 9 T-Mobile Unlock is carrier locked device. And due to website error it is mentioned as T-Mobile Unlock. However, it is carrier locked device.
LE2115 is North America unlock variant device and LE2117 is T-Mobile."

So I definitely want Unlocked (LE2115). Although this T-Mobile version might work for me now since I am on Mint (T-Mobile MVNO), I want to have the flexibility to use the phone on other carriers, e.g., when I travel overseas.

Am I the only one that has terrible issues with typing on this phone? I used it for a while when I sent my Pixel 6 is for repair and it would miss letters constantly. I could not figure out why it would fail to register my typing.

Edit: someone asked if I have a screen protector. I do not. I had also spent some time troubleshooting it, full wipe, set up as new no backup restored, clearing data, turning off vibration, a different keyboard, etc etc. Issue persisted. I sort of wanted to stick with it but I can't deal with typing issues.

For some reason am only getting $100 off and total is $349 and not $299 for the 9.

For the 9 Pro it is showing current discounted price of $399.

Also, the trade in for my 7T is showing as only $50 for the 9 whereas for the 9 Pro showing $250 (with additional $200 trade-in credit)
Here's what I noticed on trade in values.... it's crap and especially on OP's own devices. This tells me two things: 1) OP knows their used devices doesn't do well on the used market (not much value). 2) Even worse, OP themselves don't think too much of their own phones as they are willing to offer next to zilch for the trade-ins. I think Samsung phones are some of the worse POS on the market with how much they're MSRP is but at least their trade-in programs shows their is value in their own phones as they give substantial $$ for it. It's like buying a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord vs. a Hyundai Sonata. The resale value for a Camry or Honda is substantially higher than a Hyundai.Yet, their msrp's are comparable new.

Ok. That's the reason I gonna stick with oos11 , 12 onwards it ls color os.. but oneplus provide easy downgrade solution .. also 13 stable going to be releas, Worth to give a try if you need latest security patch..,i heard is quite good..
Who knows what new bugs OOS 13 will bring. It is technically Color OS with fancy name for material design (Auqamorphic design). My worry is these older devices do not get much attention and get slow updates and bug fixes. Also any new advancements made in Camera department does not really roll down to older devices. Take for example, Google camera. Once a new version is released, it supports older pixel phones have enhancement for them too. Its like once Oneplus dumps their phone on sale, assume that it is inline for planned obsolesce

I jumped on the 9 Pro. In case anyone wants to do that, I will detail my price and process.

I got the OP 8 5G late last year. I think around this time of year for around $200 out the door. I thought that was the end of buying phones for a bit since now I had a spare phone in the OP 8 and as a work phone. The OP 8 is actually decent for me, IDK about anyone else, but OS and stability are fine.

Checking this out yesterday and today, I was about to disregard it like everyone since the increased trade-in was only for 9 Pro. But I did the coupons and added some old credits I had from the previous purchase, and out the door before the extra trade-in value, it was $331. With the $200 extra trade-in, it lowers it to $131. I am pretty stoked about that. Definitely an upgrade for the spare since the OP 8 had 8 gigs of ram and this has 12. The real problem for me was the storage though. I am about 80% full on OP 8, so the 256 on the 9Pro will be fantastic.

The phone started at $599 for me. The coupon brings it down to $399. Instant $80 trade-in for OP 8 and the extra $200 gets refunded after they receive the trade-in. I just had another $14 and change in credits from previous purchases and registering my phone with OP.

All in all, I am pretty happy since I am getting overvalued on the phone I paid last year. If anyone else was gonna do this, I hope it helps.

$145 to upgrade to OP 9 Pro from OP 8 last year is indeed a slick deal. If not satisfied with the stock OS (color or O), flashing a 3rd-party ROM is not that hard for a tech savvy.

I didn't see the extra $200 trade in bonus... How did that show up for you?

edit... NVM, I was looking at the 9, not 9 pro

Any recent success stories of getting the $200 credit?
Have read too many horror stories of 3rd party company denying trade in device quality.

B/c the ppi is set too high. It's probably 425 like the op8.
Set to 405 in developer options and start there. It's not persistent through reboot, but you can test.
I know you can make it perm (at least with root), but haven't bothered since I never reboot.
I will definitely look into this! Thank you

No, I didn't. Bought it outright. I actually bought it twice. In the timespan of two weeks, the op8 went from 250 to 200, and then I had a student discount. So it was an insane deal. I still don't know if this trade is worth it, but I think it is. I hope the company takes my trade in since it's in perfect condition.

I'm thrilled as I have an 8t which I was able to use the trade in offer:

Subtotal
$699.00

Discount
-$300.00

Instant Trade-in
-$110.00

Shipping and sales tax
Total $329.91

Then when I trade in my 8t, I get $200 credit. I'm not sure if this is a voucher for $200 off a future purchase or $200 goes back on my credit card.

If I don't send in the 8t, Im out the $200 credit and I am charged $110 on the instant credit for trade in.

So I can:

A) return the 8t as per the agreement and I get either $200 credit or voucher. This makes my 9pro cost $129 as an upgrade. If it's a voucher then my cost is $329 with a $200 credit to a store I won't likely use.

B) not return the 8t and use it as a back up media device for the kiddo. They will charge me the $110 instant trade-in-credit on the card in file. This will cost me $329 for the 9pro and 110 to keep the 8t.

I'm thinking of just keeping my device and eating the $110 trade in credit.
