You pay tax on new phone price minus the 600. In my case, 800-600=200*6%=$12

The plan I have had for 5 years. I think people are getting confused. Activating does not mean adding a new line. You either activate it in store by them "turning it on" or you call your carrier when you leave the store to make it active on your plan.

I was ready to go and upgrade my S21 to the S22+ - as it comes out almost free. Then I googled comparing the 2 phones. Now I think I will hold off. Seems like a downgrade on the camera and battery life. I have zero problems with my S21 and pictures are already phenomenal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with this thinking...

I was on the same boat but BB paid me to get a newer phone and can use s22+ to trade in next year for better price than s21+ or maybe another trade to s22U on this black Friday, so why not.

Comparison based on actual usage or just comparing the battery size ? S21 battery vs S22+ battery in your case or from S21+. For me, it was newer phone, a bigger screen from my s21. Plus, BB/Samsung actually paid me to upgrade. Got a net $200 in GC.

i loved my s21 in white , too bad i had to resort to black and didnt want to wait/order/ship with the extra tmobile activation gc in the balance

Also coming from an S21 (not plus), I don't feel like it's a downgrade to the S22+. Camera is still good, battery is bigger so shouldn't be much worse battery life. The back feels more premium as well. Having a new battery compared to my 1.5 year old phone, better software support, and the above mentioned better trade in value all made this an easy decision.

I didn't even mention the bigger screen, I (very slightly) prefer the smaller size.

Bought the 256GB S22+ yesterday for $800 after work when the best buy wasn't busy.

The helpful mobile associate explained why they don't like to fulfill this promotion because selling phones or accessories outright doesn't net them any commissions, only activations and plans do. That's why they don't like getting flooded with trade ins (she admitted it was a good deal) because it may make her miss a commission sale.

Overall she was a pro at it and we finished in 10 min. This was the process.

1. Asked for my phone # to pull up my best buy rewards account
2. Traded in my S21
3. The system generated a $200 physical best buy gift card
4. Ordered the $800 S22+ (256GB) unlocked to be shipped to my home since the store is out of it
5. System automatically applies a $600 coupon
6. Remaining total is $200+tax
7. Associate applied the $200 gift card she loaded for me from step 3 and I just paid the remaining tax

Of course if you got the 128GB for $50 less, you'd keep the remaining balance on the gift card. No need to pull up my postpaid carrier plan
