Does a new line trigger the discount?
No, but an eligible phone activation will. So if you buy the unlocked Samsung S22 and activate it on your line, that will trigger it.

Do you know if the GC deal will work if I go back to the store once I get the phone and activate it on my TMO account?
It's hard to say, even just getting the additional TMO $250 is a huge ymmv for some.

Thanks for the reply. Phone supposed to arrive Wednesday. The bb rep that took care of me was very nice and helpful so maybe I can still pull it off if I go back and talk to him.

Sharing my story: (Hope it will help fellow SD'ers)
FYI - I have three BB stores within 20 min drive distance.

11/11: I went to one of my nearest BB stores to do a trade-in for S21 and get S22+. They didn't have any S22+ in stock so I told them to ship to my address. Apparently, there was some issue in the system so I told them to do in-store pickup. In-store pickup was scheduled for 11/17. I thought I will change the shipping from in-store to shipping later. (BIG MISTAKE) I walked with $200 GC as I did T mobile activation.

11/12: On the next day, I saw S22+ is available for shipping the next day on my zip code. I chatted with a customer care agent and told them to modify my order for shipping instead. They tried to do it but couldn't modify the order. He suggested me we can cancel this order and place a new one for shipping. I said that's fine. I also said it's a trade-in order so don't want to mess up anything. Maybe the rep didn't read my message and he canceled it immediately. When it was time to reorder, he said he can't do it because if paid $0 and they can't create free orders over the chat. After back and forth he apologized for giving the wrong information and created a case for my request and gave me the case id. He told me to go to ANY best buy store and give them the case id and they should be able to help me out as he mentioned everything in the notes. I went to the BB store after a few hours. I went to a different store this time. I explained my situation and they informed me - You have to go to my original BB store as they had your trade-in. They can cancel your trade-in and redo the transaction. Fine. I went to the original store. I spoke to the manager (His tag was Retail Supervisor) and explained everything. He was clueless at first about what to do. After some time he told me he can order a phone for me but I had to pay $750 from pocket because there are no funds in the refund request. I said yes because I trade in the phone and paid nothing. After almost 45 min of me getting frustrated with his answers and response - he told me lets wait for a day. I will get your original Samsung coupon amount back then we can do the transaction. He told me to come back tomorrow. I left the store (Frustrated)

11/13: Today he gave me a different version - He told me your transaction was canceled and we have requested to cancel your trade-in. Once the trade-in is canceled we can have your phone and then we can redo the transaction. He mentioned because today is Sunday trade-in cancellation request won't be processed until tomorrow. He told me he will call me tomorrow with the update. He mentioned if the prices changes tomorrow you have to pay the difference or we will give you your old phone back. I argued a lot but in the end and left the store. I thought of going to a third store just to validate whether what these guys are saying is correct or not. I decided to take a chance and went to the third store. After explaining this store's rep said (he was accompanying a Samsung guy as well) that's so not true. Trade-in cancellations are processed within 2 min. There is no Sunday thing. I was so pissed off at this time knowing how misinformed that manager was. The third store's rep told me to go to the original store tomorrow and if they gave me further trouble contact us here, and we will explain to them how to resolve it.

I will go again tomorrow. Hoping it should get resolved. The moral here is DO NOT MODIFY YOUR TRADE IN ORDER EVER!!!!
When you are stacking multiple offers/things (not only this deal, it's applicable to every deal), try to keep things simple. In this case, you should have just waited for the phone to deliver to your home. Now you wasted some much time on chat and multiple stores, and still, you don't have any guarantee that tomorrow will be any better. And as per my understanding, once you traded your device, it's done and dusted.

I hope they have some way to help you and solve your issue.

And thanks for sharing your experience, so that others dont repeat.

I agree, many people mention in the forum saying they want to return the device and activate through tmobile to potentially double dip, my suggestion, try not to do it, lose that 250 does not mean you want to spend days and days to go back and forth and do all the process again, I know is sad you did not double dip, just let it go, without the additional 250, you just maybe not getting 150ish as bonus, not a big deal, go live your life.

I totally agree with the quoted says, try not to mess up whatever have been done and dusted, forget about it, just think you already have a good deal, why ask for more. Also, bothering reps to do all the process and retrieve your trade in is so much going against store policy, they need to do a lot overriding to the system, if they are nice, you get the deal back, but they are so much screw when their supervisor find out and they have to explain. But mostly, rep just dont want to deal with that, so they will say no, at the end, losing more than getting more, not a good deal in my opinion, 😂

I agree. You don't want to mess it up and don't need to be greedy. It will only arouse too much attention then they we will not find this kind of deals anymore. If you stay cool there will be a next time.

Also if you don't have T-Mobile, there is a free 3 month trial can take advantage of on esim as a 2nd line if you have another carrier in the physical sim. there is a slickdeal thread on that. So I may do that for 3 months given Visible is my primary carrier its good to have a backup. The value of the 3 months offsets the $250 partially, still rather have the $250 but not worth the hassle

I brought nearly 5-7 phones, and I can say BB CS and their systems are worst. Each time I spent minimum 1hour and max 4hours. But on each device I made between 350-450, so it was worth the wait, but I never went to store to cancel any transactions even when prices dropped by $50-$100.

Lol, can not agree no more, just do once and done with it, everything get better is no your business anymore. In the very beginning, this killer deal supposed not exist, just by chance that killer elevate trade in so how match with special discount BF price tag and become a 37 dollar money maker. I mean, at the very initial deal, this has been slick already. Come on people, 37 money maker is not even when you get a new phone?

For those include me getting the tmobile 250 double dip, I would say I would not expect in the future we can get it, it was just so so surprise and of course making the deal killer. But again, at the end of day, we just get 150ish small bonus more than the 37ish initial deal. I would say spend more time in your life and even work for those hours can earn you that 150 right?

I hope everyone can get this slick even killer deal, so we as a community share so much in our post already. I would say if I did not read through from page 1 to page 80 on my mobile, I would not realized the tmobile deal. Be patient, be careful, be thoughtful, and most importantly, be nice and not greddy, we will all get many amazing deal in the future!

**Tipping the vendor, and trigger their arousal on noticing loophole is not a good practice in slickdeal community* 😂
