I have successfully used many Inland SSDs, but did actually have one 256GB SATA drive flake out, but not completely fail. Was always causing BSODs as a system drive. Despite the drive not being totally dead, and having to take my word for it regarding the flakiness, Microcenter let me exchange it in store for a new one without any hassle (I had the receipt, but this was over a year after purchase).

Even though it is supposed to be one per household, it appears they are selling more than one to each customer to have gone out of stock so quick at some stores.
Hopefully the stores get more inventory before the price ends.
Bought another today. Be prepared for a really long line at checkout, although looking at what other folks were buying, it wasn't this item causing the rush. Unlike the first one that I bought and the store associate had to pull it out of the back, they are now in a bin. Suggest checking twice however because there's another bin nearby selling same drive with half the capacity (256 vs. 512) for more money (22 vs. 20).
Although I appreciate other comments regarding speed and durability, I already installed the first one as a replacement for a conventional desktop spinning drive (7200 rpm) and have found it to be more than adequate for my needs. Much faster boot up and shut down times. $20 seems cheap to extend the life of an older pc for at least a year.
You might want to first see how difficult it is to remove your existing laptop drive. Some are easily removed with just a screw or two where others require significant disassembly. If the former, the process only takes a few minutes for the physical swap out. If the latter, it's doable but you may need a delicate hand. Seriously, you need to be realistic about your skill set. One time, I accidentally broke an audio connection on the motherboard which rendered my laptop with no sound.
If anyone plans to use this to replace a desktop hard drive, you may need a drive adapter. After removing the existing hard drive, you screw this into the adapter and then put it where your old hard drive was mounted. I paid $7 for one a few hours ago. Bought a similar one at Best Buy recently for about the same price. Actually they each allow you to mount up to two SSD drives in the adapter.
Finally, recognize that most folks need to clone the contents from their old drive over to this new one. I used Macrium (free for up to ten uses) and found it easy to use. Each time the cloning process took about an hour or so. Obviously that depends on how much data you have. Great reason to clean up the existing drive before starting. As with any cloning software, be very sure to confirm which drive is the target. If the existing drive is functional, you might want to keep it in a drawer so that if the new one craps out, you can easily swap it back again. You'll lose data created since the initial swap out but you will have a working pc.
hours later store said they didn't
even stock them, "would you like
some other full price 512gb ssd?"
pure lure & switch.
I did almost laugh out loud when I saw the "regular sticker price" to be $120!
