Shame that the SanDisk Cruzer Fit metal models do not go above 64GB.

Due to the miniaturization, the UltraFit just runs hot, even without a load and heats up rapidly with any sustained activity which leads to the erratic performance due to heat sensors that shut down the drive to cool off.
Then, add the all plastic construction which does not dissipate heat well. Probably due to the heat issues, the connector portion becomes brittle and will shatter eventually when removing/inserting into a USB port. It is a PITA to remove and can possibly result in damage to the USB port. It is a common problem that has been reported repeatedly.
If you want this form factor, get the Samsung "Fit Plus" version. Maximum capacity is "only" 256GB. It cost a little more but definitely worth it.
I've been wanting 512gb of small removal storage and need to get something. I really like the small profile of this Sandisk and don't see anything close to the small size of it. PNY has one with a small profile but a little bigger than this one, but dang it's $65. Nothing slick about that price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088RMCCLR
Maybe the thing to do is buy a minature usb card reader and get the microsdxc card separately. I was thinking of the following...
$10 Kingston Reader - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085P5FDXQ
$37 SP 512 GB - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083BVZ9XN
$38 TeamGroup 512 GB - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08976HLQL
Any cheaper solution for a rather small 512 GB usb or just pony-up for the extra $20 and get the PNY, get something else, or wait for Black Friday?

I am certain that one of the reasons I am so critical of this product is the blatant indifference by SanDisk to continue to sell this drive, and to make matters worse to release it in higher capacities. It is worthless and risky to try to move/manage large amounts of data with this drive. The design just can't handle it. I use to hold the company in high regard due to the quality of their products but no longer. Perhaps it is the result of the Western Digital acquisition.
