Not great, as it makes this much more of a right price rather than a slickdeal. This is the dual-core i-series CPU, putting it head and shoulders above any of the Atom-based CPU systems at even slightly lower prices (typically in the $200-ish price point). However, a true slickdeal at this price point, and a much better long-term investment as a productivity laptop, would be a laptop equipped with a four core i series CPU (these kind of deals did exist in the prior black friday).

A search for i3 laptop sorted by newest listing and filtered for under $300 had multiple pages of listings over the last year of comparable dual-core i-series laptops priced between $200-300.

Good luck!

Are your referring to that HP one for $255?
It has a more capable and few months newer 4C/8T AMD Ryzen 3 5300U processor (vs this 2C/4T Core i3 1115G4). with higher multi-core Passmark of 10040 against 6212 of Acer, though the Core i3 1115G4 performs slightly better in single-core tasks (HP 2379 vs Acer 2674).

Both have upgradable 8GB RAM (Acer has 1x4GB soldered + 4GB removable, HP has 2x4GB removable), same 256GB SSD storage and inferior non-IPS FHD display panel.

I understand that HP laptop offers HP Fast Charge, which will take you from zero to 50% charge in just 30-45 minutes

In all aspects, I'd go for the HP for $5 more, unless you will need the RJ-45 LAN port which only Acer has.

How does this compare to the Asus VivoBook for $300 at Office Depot last week? https://slickdeals.net/f/16209655-300-at-office-depot-asus-vivobook-laptop-15-6-screen-intel-core-i3-12th-generation-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-windows-11s-f1502za-os34-299-99?src=SiteSearch

ASUS looks like better CPU, better RAM, backlit keyboard, but everything else the same. What about GPU?

Much better CPU. Same amount of ram and SSD. It's still Intel UHD which is probably a bit better. I think it's well worth $50 more. The problem is it expired.

The Office Depot ASUS VivoBook for $300 is far superior... and you get a $25 virtual Visa. So, for $275 (after virtual Visa) you get a much faster 12th generation 10-core i3 processor with 12mb cache (versus the Acer 11th gen 2-core i3 processor with 6mb cache). Plus, with the Asus, you get the addition of a backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader. The Asus has a USB-C port. The Acer does not. The SSD hard drives are the same size. But, the Asus is a newer model and is a smidge faster. The ASUS has a 3-cell battery with automatic battery health charging. The Acer has a 2-cell battery with standard battery charging. And, many people (myself included) think that ASUS is a superior brand with better build quality than Acer. The Office Depot Asus deal was a true Slick Deal. This Target Acer deal is not much of a deal at all.

Target app has $20 off $120 or more. $230 is pretty good.

With the Target RedCard 5% discount and the $20 off $120, this laptop comes out to $217.49 before tax. But, it's still not worth it. This laptop is truly barebones.

If you want more cpu power another option is this Lenovo with a i3-1215u. That's 6c/8t. https://www.target.com/p/lenovo-1...A-86976503
Other than CPU, I'm wondering how that and the OP laptop compare. Do you know if the screen quality is any different?

I'm wondering if I should wait for that to go on sale again soon. Thoughts?

I have an old 2019 Lenovo laptop slickdeal that was also dual-core processor that was decent for $130, but it ran so slow even after removing the bloatware. I just need this for basic task and simple software. Would this be sufficiently more powerful? The Lenovo is at 90-100% CPU usage when I pull up task manager. I'd appreciate any input. Excuse my lack of knowledge. I'm a self taught, self proclaimed tech idiot who doesn't want to spend a lot on a seldomly needed device.

Old device specs:

Configuration Details
● Processor: AMD® A6-9220C dual-core processor (1.80GHz, up to 2.7GHz Max Boost, 1MB Cache)
● Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64
● Display Type: 14" FHD (1920 x 1080) anti-glare
● Memory: 4 GB DDR4 1666MHz (Onboard)
● Hard Drive: 64GB eMMC
● Warranty: 1 Year Depot or Carry-in
● AC Adapter: 45 watt AC
● Graphics: Integrated AMD Graphics
● Battery: 3 Cell Li-Polymer 57Wh
● Bluetooth: Bluetooth® 4.2
● Camera: 720p HD camera
● Keyboard: Keyboard - US English
● Wireless: Liteon QCA 6174A 802.11AC (2 x 2)

Oh my. That CPU is soooooo weak. It's barely comparable to Intel first generation of Core i3 CPUs back in 2010.
This one is definitely several times faster if running CPU bound tasks. (6 times highe CPU Mark score)

Thank you so much. Just what I need to hear. This may not be as good as laptops $100 more, but it sounds just good enough for my needs.

Great - thanks for breaking that down. I managed to nab that Vivobook while the deal was still active for my dad for Christmas. He's coming from an older ASUS laptop with an older i3, 5400rpm hard drive, 4gb RAM, and a flickering screen when on battery LMAO

I completely agree about ASUS's quality compared to HP - the HP's I've had in the past had batteries that degraded quickly and the fans were loud and always running hot.

How would this compare to https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6426707

I bought that one 2 years ago. But I busted up the touchpad by hitting it too hard while playing a game. I wanted to fix the touchpad but the fix is pretty expensive. This laptop has really seemed so slow lately and its aggravating. Is this Acer an upgrade or just the exact same?

I wouldn't mind it for the price, plus I have a $40 off code to use at Target that I assume would work. My only thing is if I should just deal with this busted touchpad laptop, its still ok most of the time. I feel like Lenovo's are cheaply made, all my lenovos have had busted trackpads or something else bust pretty easy.

Is the 11th gen i3 going to make a difference over 10th? Are the screens and speakers the same? I just can't tell from this info. From what I can tell they're the same.

That one is U series CPU. Asus is P. The only thing better in U is the low power consumption. If battery life is not important, P series CPU in Asus is better.
$300 is $50 more than this $250. Dual core i3 is good enough for some people who just need to browse or do regular office work.
