I believe they meant is a lot companies who bought Herman Miller chair for employees would be selling those chairs as they liquidate from bankruptcy and the chair flood the 2nd hand market.

Herman Miller is not itself is not "a lot of companies" and will be fine like you said and will likely provide support for those 2nd hand chairs if any issues come up.

Call a local dealer and you'll likely get Embody or Aeron for under $1k. That's what I did almost 2 years ago, and still love my Embody.

Steelcase leap for life these are not worth the price nor are steelcase really, probably grossly overpriced because corporations make most of the orders and they can charge them basically whatever

Majority layoffs are in wfh companies. These are always available much cheaper second hand in liquidation anyways. Company liquidations are not going to show up on Slickdeals anyway either. What is "waiting" going to help with?

Worth it. If you are thinking, will this really last 10 years? 200 lbs sitting on aeron everyday: yes it will. Thats 150 a year for top quality chair. Actually not that expensive.
