That will probably work fine, usb has weird topology limits, i think 5 hubs deep, but the first hub is at the machine, and things like 7+ port hubs are actually internally daisy chained multiples of 4 port hubs, so it can be easy to daisy chain things until they stop working.

Keep in mind that adding an extension may not power up your 2.5" drives.

Saw no 5% off coupon, even tho I was logged into Amazon and tried via my phone app and also via PC. Apparently they nixed the coupon fairly soon.
Anyhow, I ordered a few at the very decent $7.99 price (even without the coupon, but will get 5% Amazon Visa rewards cashback).
Hmmm. maybe they don't offer the 5% coupon to accounts that will receive the 5% Amazon Visa rewards cashback.

I've been using this exact same cable for about 10 years. It works great zero issues. USB doesn't like like long cables but this fixes it. Used it for one build to connect a Dell Monitor USB hub and ran the cable through the ceiling. My current build connects a USB KM switch. I have zero issues connecting 500mbps USB drives to the USB switch and getting full speeds even though the Active Extension is in between.

That cable is not an Active Extension Cable.
