I can't say that I need another one of these, but this price is too good to pass up. I purchased a 4TB at Amazon with a November 20 delivery date - I'll cancel by Monday if I change my mind.

There have been many reports of these large-capacity 870 EVOs failing within a year. My lightly used 4TB drive failed too which was a big surprise (because I have exclusively used Samsung SSDs for almost 10 years and none had failed before). I went through the RMA process and Samsung sent me a brand-new drive (took a few weeks), but I did end up losing some of my files.

If you order this, make sure to check the manufacturing date. The later the better - a lot of the failed drives were from 2021 (although there was some speculation that a faulty firmware update was to blame for the failures).

Crazy how price hasn't moved much on SATA SSD. Paid $306 July 2021 for 4TB 870 QVO

Would this unit perform significantly better than a 2TB 850 Pro?

also found the following on the web:

860 PRO uses the latest 64L 3D MLC NAND and LPDDR4 DRAM from Samsung plus a new revision to their highly successful SATA SSD controller series

The 870 EVO uses TLC (or 3bit MLC, as dubbed by Samsung) 3D V-NAND, is available in capacities from 256GB up to 4TB, and features the company's newest in-house controller. The 870 EVO also offers an endurance of up to 2,400TBW
