Skip to 4:25 to see it on the chart vs a pneumatic version.
Seems comparable for work purposes and useful in places like an attic, but you could stretch your dollar further with the air version for most tasks.
Plus it's a bit heftier than the air model.
Skil hammer seems to be much better than this monstrosity. I'm heavily invested into Milwaukee ecosystem, but I wouldn't buy this over Skil (if I was in market for one).

That's a great alternative -- saw Skil's pre-sale commericial last year but didn't follow up afterwards. Review of Skil 12V AAuto Hammer Kit on Lowe's website is very good.

I have the Milwaukee nailer and it is much faster at driving nails than the Skil in the video. But you are right when it comes to the profile and would say that the Skil could be a good buy if you had tight clearances or already had batteries.
That said, I found a comparison video of the Milwaukee and Skil. In the video, the Milwakuee is 2x-3x faster than the Skil (depending on angle):
Having used the air-powered palm nailers I can say this is much larger, but still manageable. I wouldn't pull out a compressor just to use the palm nailer if I have this m12 available.
This will sink 16d nails into a 2-ply LVL beam without issue. It does go a little slower (each blow sinks the nail a little less than typical sawn lumber), but it does fully sink the nails.. repeatedly.
Sinking nails into sawn lumber is a non-issue. Super quick.
I did find the larger batteries do make a difference. I use 4ah in it and it goes longer than I need it to. The smaller batteries don't work well in my experience.
after seeing this youtube video of an informal comparison between a different brand Auto hammer and M12 palm nailer, I won't bet my luck on the auto hammer when nailing in joist hanger. The auto hammer is obviously weaker than the M12 palm nailer and may not able to fully hammer the nail in . The skil model's feedback has similar comment, weaker but works.

The time this thing has saved alone has paid for it many times over.
Great price, might get a second one for a helper.
1. Fits tight spaces fairly well
2. Long day? Tired? Use this instead to hammer it.
3. Battery powered. No compressor, hoses, outlets, or noise.
