For those who are in the market for a Radon detector.
Amazon has Airthings 2930 Wave Plus Smart Indoor
Radon & Air Quality Monitor on sale for $149.99.
Shipping is free.
I've been tracking the price of this for quite some time, this is the lowest I've seen in quite some while. It was previously on FP with 60+ upvotes for roughly same price.

Features:
6 sensors: radon, carbon dioxide (CO2), VOCs,
humidity, temperature and air pressure
Easy to use: Easily measure levels in any indoor
environment
Versatile: Created for everyone, building managers,
employers and homeowners
Connectivity: Bluetooth 5 or use Airthings
smartlink with the Airthings hub
Easy to understand: simply wave in front of the
device to receive a color-coded visual indication of
the overall air quality, green (good), yellow (fair),
red (poor)
• Smart home integration: Airthings wave plus works
seamlessly with Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT
(if this then that)

I get it, this is better than this [amazon.com], but given that the "dumb" version often goes for $100, how is this better? No wifi, Bluetooth only. To me this is as good as a dumb meter. Given that I own 3, I would rather get many "dumb" ones and put them into multiple rooms than one "smart" one.

But look, it has a Co2 sensor! Strange marketing move. CO sensor would be reasonable, but CO2? laugh out loud laugh out loud
Edit: don't tell me it has a thermometer.

Yeah, with the dumb ones there is no screwing with BT or WiFi setup/drops/signal issues. Just look at the screen and there is your answer. You can take it anywhere in the house, so the screen can be viewable anytime you need to check the readings.

Co2 is actually incredibly useful. It is a good surrogate marker for ventilation (lots of literature around this) good ventilation will reduce your risk of airborne diseases. Let's not forget the pediatric ICUs are fill right now and we are still In a pandemic. Everytime you get covid you have chance of a bad outcome (psychiatric disease, dvt, diabetes, increased risk of mi blah blah)

It also has VOC, which I care about. If the dump one works for you, by all means go with dump. For me, I only need it in the basement, and I find it ok paying extra for the extra sensors and ability to check results on my phone. If there is any issue with the connection, I can simply return it by end of Jan…

To each their own, but you can do some pretty cool stuff with the BT version and a raspberry pi (or similar). I've got them exporting to a grafana instance and get historical readouts (yeah, i know their site has a similar offering but it's a hobby). Example [imgur.com]

The dumb version routinely goes for $50ish on eBay. Look for the Home Depot "exclusive" version. FWIW, I have the one in the OP, as well as the View Plus, and two of the dumb ones. When I put them all within an inch of each other, the radon results vary by as much as a whole pCi/L.

And CO2 monitor is very helpful to see how it varies over time. You want a CO alarm, not a CO monitor. If you're monitoring CO you have much bigger problems.

TU for the ebay link (repped). I had no idea!
Thanks to everyone who responded on CO2 sensor as well. Will note for future deals. Please don't give me another reason why I need these things Smilie I should stop reading SD and save money.
