I bought it at Costco. I like it. I regularly cook my breakfast right on the keyboard due to the incredible heat. I have already been contacted by scientist at the failed Fukushima nuclear plant for advice on preventing another nuclear meltdown. Sound wise its not too bad either. I work at the airport near jet engines, so I have industrial hearing protection. Sure it a little louder than a Rolls Royce Turbo 9000, wide open, but I'm willing to sacrifice some sound, for performance. What I'm concerned about is all the stuff flying around the room when the fan kicks on. I'm on the fence on this one from Costco, now that NewEgg is $100 cheaper. May just have to return it.

I got it from Costco 3 months ago. Pretty happy with it. The fan is loud when I stress it but tolerable (for me). The gaming performance is great with an eGPU. I love the screen soooo much! It's beautiful, and probably my major reason to keep it

As long as it can keep cool and not throttle to hell… This seems like a perfect laptop for travel/work/school and when you get home plug in the external gpu for gaming awesomeness!

I just got this from Costco yesterday and it seems fine but I haven't had too much time to test it yet. How are you guys seeing issues with the heat and fans exactly?

I may have embellished that previous post, a bit. In real world, net surfing. Fan may kick on, but I don't hear it. Yes, I'm old. Under load, processing raw photo images, it comes on, and goes off. I have never had a laptop that didn't have some fan noise when playing games and/or processor stressed to max. It gets warm. Especially when it is doing something of significance. No burns here, as others have stated, in other reviews. Is it noisier hotter than previous laptops? If it is, I have no way to quantify it. Glossy screen? Yes. Some people like them, some people hate them. Problem for me, NO. When I do see a reflection, I adjust the screen 5 degrees one way or the other. Problem solved. Problem for you???? Does anybody have a better machine at a better price? Please provide a link. At the Newegg price. I'm doubting it.

I want to buy this for my son, but I absolutely need to have a number pad. What is the deal with ASUS NumberPad - is that only available on specific colors? Please help me here.

I was debating the one at Costco...
the 16:10 ratio and OLED display are sure nice to have...
But I then bought the MSI Prestige 14" at newegg for $550

The 1240p should fare a bit better in the noise/heat dept.

The OLED and 16:10 will remain wishful thinking...

usually the 14" laptops have no numpad
there was the asus vivobook with the oled but only 8GB ram that turns the touchpad into a numpad...
11th gen intel but still decent for $499 with the OLED screen

Or you need to look into 15.6"

You can make it scream and heat up if running Cinebench R23 or some benchmark on it...

But best is to try doing what you normally would use it for...
And if it works for you - then that is all that matters.

Thanks. Yes, this Newegg model also has touchpad numpad but seems like that is available only for specific color model. Strange.

I think you might be looking at a different model. Please link to the one with the numpad regardless of color.
As far I see this one is only one color...

Can any owners of this laptop verify if there are any TDP settings in the BIOS?
