Our very own thread to discuss and chat about the OS, ROM's, apps from Android Market, our Android phones, tips & tricks, questions, and help issues. With the different phones out now and to be released from various carriers, I figure we all have a lot in common with the Android OS. We can discuss what we like, need help with, what apps are cool or don't work well, as well as questions and help issues. Given that CSR's from the various carriers may know less than we do, this thread is for all of us so we can help one another.

MR = maintenance release or market release or something like that... basically it's an update for the operating system of the phone to either FIX a problem or to introduce new and nifty options. IT'S FREE!

Go to menu>settings> about phone > system updates > firmware update. It'll download the file and install it, you just click a few buttons to start it and it does the rest.

Go back into the default messaging app and re-enable notifications and you'll be good to get rid of chomp/handcent if you want. The phone will properly sleep so it doesn't drain the battery. You can confirm this by checking the awake time on your phone (be sure to let it go into standby for a bit before checking).

Some new buttons during phone calls. Camera is a lot faster and a few other miscellaneous goodies.

New update is labeled as 1.56.651.2. You can check that... or check for updates... or see if you have a new mute/speakerphone button during your calls....

hey my meebo client to chat on facebook keeps force closing out of nowhere yesterday..i shut the phone down and rebooted and it's doing it again Annoyed any ideas?

Saves space on the phone... of course you are more than welcome to keep handcent. My own thought is that the default program works fine for me so no need for anything else.

Camera is quick! Mute/speakerphone buttons on call screen (instead of nested in a menu), new default android contact picture, app fixes (I'm not sure on this one... never had the problem), messaging app sleeps.

Also reported stereo/mono headphone fix (never had problem), updated browser (I don't see anything new) and potentially less lag (probably due to phone reboot).

That's what I'm aware of... probably more...

watch the XDA forums.. someone might make a Android rom to flash to it.. right now they are working on variations of android 2.0 for the G1 and mytouch
