Why do some people refuse to accept that light weight is a valuable feature worth paying extra for? The LG Gram is an ultra-lightweight laptop that weighs 2.64 lb. The Lenovo you linked to is 4.60 lb. If you just leave your laptop at home all the time, by all means get the Lenovo. If you need a lightweight laptop for carrying on your commute or travel, the 2 lb lighter weight makes a HUGE difference.
These laptops come with 1 additional SSD slot. I purchased the 2tb Samsung 980 Pro to add on ($179 on amazon), which is in line with the included system specs.
I see some discussion around value for this laptop, so wanted to share my main reasons for choosing it:
The 14" I purchased is slightly over 2lbs, whereas a comparable 14" lenovo is slightly over 3lbs, approx. 50% increase in weight. The extra weight on your back won't make a huge difference if you travel occasionally, but I travel a LOT, and I'm carrying this and on-the-go for tens of hours every month, so any additional weight will eventually have long-term affects on my back/posture.
The flexibility for adding an additional SSD (which most lighter laptops don't have). This also saves me from having to carry around an external drive.
Awesome battery life, which is again a huge plus if you're constantly traveling and don't always have easy access to a power source.
Anyone know if "512GB dual SSD" means two 256GB M.2 modules? I thought this model had 512GB module + empty slot but maybe not...

I'm curious how often other consumers use the touchscreen on their laptop. I have a 2 in 1 Dell for personal use and touchscreen hp z book for work. I rarely use the touchscreen. Like basically never. I don't find it convenient for any tasks. Touchscreen tasks like note taking or drawing goes to my Samsung Tab.

I have been buying 2 in 1s with touch screens several years while I found that tablet functionally is useless but touch does occasionally come handy. I would say 3% of the time I use touch.
For Black Friday (starting 11/24), Costco will have a similar deal on a 17" LG Gram for $999.99 but with the Intel Core i7-1260P processor, which might not be any better. That deal will include a 2-year warranty. https://www.costco.com/lg-gram-17...71154.html
B&H also has a 14" one with i7 for $999: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...ntel.html. I have a 15.6" one from Costco with i-5 Gen 11 but 16:9 aspect ratio. Works fine with some minor software hiccups. The screen is too reflective but it is super light and accepts two M.2 SSDs. Runs Linux perfectly well. Thunderbolt via an adapter to DP drives a dual setup - a 1440P monitor and a 1200P monitor on both Windows and Linux.
Why does this comment section always fight? I want a good laptop for music production and a game. I have a grudge against Lenovo because of it's long boot time (I heard) I have an Asus notebook that's more than 10 years and I want something I can edit videos with when I travel is $1,600 ok?

honestly save $100 and get i5 version I'm sure i7 is getting throttled. or the fans would be running full force.
I have a 17" Gram with the i7-1260P and it came with a single 512GB SSD (super fast, too), and an empty slot, into which I placed a 2TB Crucial P5 NVME M.2. The thing is super-lightweight, except in the performance area. It's super-fast, though I understand the video capability is not up to high frame-rate gaming with multiple monitors, or high-speed video transcoding. The screen is just bright enough to not have to turn to max brightness in a well-lit office.
An earlier post says it's going on sale again, but this time for $100 less than I paid at Costco. I've been around (in hardware, and software development) PCs since the 286, and I think this thing is amazing.

yep i got it from Costco online. in store is $100 more expensive.
Desions decisions, can anyone suggest 14 vs 16"? Is the overheating issue on the 14? I also even considered Samsung Galaxy book2 13" i7 but that one seems to have an overheating issue as well. Their 15" doesn't (2 fans). I wonder if overheating issue is better for 16 in this case? I like the 16:10 ratio of lg
