Can someone help a non techie out? I'm looking for a 17" touchscreen laptop that would mostly be for writing papers (I'm going back for my master's degree). Backlit full size keyboard would be great but I can do without. Trying to stay under $500. Am I looking for a unicorn?

Agreed this is a better deal than last years BF deal but I'm skeptical of Staples online inventory compared to Target's.

I don't understand why schools that buy large volumes of devices can't get pricing like this. The ones we give students in my district are trash. Celeron processors with 4gb of RAM and 11.6" screens. They probably paid $350/each for them just because they're coated in rubber.
