FWIW here's a review of the P41 line compared to similar plus pci3 variant:

Waited long
This does run on the hotter side. My P41 is about 12-14c warmer than the 530. Albeit, it is in the top PCIe slot (between my 3080 and my i9-12900K), but the difference is still present during idle.
It idles in the mid-40s and peaks in the upper 60's during gaming, with one of the sensors running low 70's. I ended up buying an Acidalie heatsink for it on Amazon ($18.99). This lowered my peak/load temps by around 6-8c, which puts me "within" operating specs, now at around 64c/max.
The 530, this P41, the KC3000, 850(x) and/or 980/990 PRO would be more than enough for anyone's builds in terms of speeds right now. If you're content with 1TB, for $100, it's worth it.

I think there's 2 main factors that explain why you got an incorrect impression of their speeds:
1. You can't compare the quoted speeds from different manufacturers who may use different methodologies. The tweaktown review actually found that the P41 was doing 7321MB/s (which is above the 7000MB/s that SK advertises and above the 7262MB/s of the XS70) according to their methodology.
2. Those quoted figures are the continuous performance. For many everyday uses, such as launching a program, there's a lot of random IO. It turns out that this is an area that the P41 truly dominates (~30% faster than its next closest opponent).
Now, when it comes to real world use, I don't think you'll see noticeable difference between the two drives except for size, so if you got the XS70 for less than $170 (price of the 2TB P41), that's probably the correct drive to buy.

The Hynix Platinum is top tier so it won't be a performance issue but rather a throttling issue once it heats up over 60c. The best nvme for PS5 all come with a heatsink.
