I bought this before and it works quite well with standard 1 gallon paint can from home depot. No more mess around the edge of the can.

I assume people have seen home Depot 1 gallon paint can. Lately when I buy Behr paint, it has twist off opening on top (see link below). The 5 gallon tip from OP can fit onto the 1 gallon paint can. I don't know if other paint companies like Kelly Moore or Sherwin Williams have the same design or not. But this works with HD 1 gallon or 5 gallon can/bucket.

These work on Sherwin Williams 5 gallon pails - you just need to pop the yellow part out of the black ring.
