Cheapest it's ever been.

I don't need it but I want it. If it was $200-250 id buy it even if i don't need it. You'd think if you can buy a new one for this price a used one would be 200-250, nope ppl want $350-400 for it used lol

This is 100% better at gaming and programming should be fine on 8 cores.

Even if we take tomshardware's benchmarks…a "100%" better quote implies this processor is twice as fast. Still goofy.

Yeah no, the 5800 X3D is the best gaming CPU on the market at present.

Dropped this into my 3-4 yr old AM4 system, to replace my 2700x. Fantastic upgrade for gaming. Won't have to worry about building a new system for a few more years.

Microcenter has the 5800x3d for $320 and it piqued my interest after researching it, since I'm running a 2700x + 5700 flashed to XT

BUT I found ~$100-120 3700x's locally online, which should provide ~20% improvement for FREE after I sell my 2700x for ~$100 or so also

we see that the Ryzen 7 3700X was on average 20% faster than the 2700X and 26% faster when comparing average fps. Those are some truly impressive generational performance gains.

The 2700X still enabled highly playable performance with smooth frame rates, so for many gamers that difference won't be realized, particularly given you're almost always GPU limited under realistic conditions, high refresh/competitive gaming being about the only exception.


Usage context: Honestly I play older games now, not AAA FPS demanding titles like Battlefield...
I do use OBS to stream though + have many trading windows open which take up a good amount of processing power,
I play the games @ 1440p - 165hz

Conclusion:
Unsure about the value proposition of doing this as I don't FEEL like my CPU is slow at the moment. It doesn't quite feel 100% fast either but game FPS wise I'm well over 100FPS all the time whenever I play Overwatch or other games. Thoughts? Could be fun to just spend it and feel the difference 🤔

Nope. Any raptor lake 13600k or better beats it. And they all have vastly superior non-gaming performance too.
