not knocking the post, but put microcenter in the title.
there are like 25 stores in whole country.
Yep. Best you're ever going to get for AM4 (for gaming).
That site is not reputable.

I don't need it but I want it. If it was $200-250 id buy it even if i don't need it. You'd think if you can buy a new one for this price a used one would be 200-250, nope ppl want $350-400 for it used lol

Same here. I already got a 5800X, smh.

Different CPU. That's a 5800X, this is a 5800X3D

This or 12700k for gaming/programming?
This is 100% better at gaming and programming should be fine on 8 cores.

"100%"? That's just goofy.

The 12700k benchmarks better ACROSS THE BOARD.

Even if we take tomshardware's benchmarks…a "100%" better quote implies this processor is twice as fast. Still goofy.

With certain exceptions, this perhaps being one, there's zero reason to go Intel if you care about power consumption, and therefore heat/noise, at all. If these things are of even the slightest concern, Intel should be avoided for the moment unless you are looking at an i3.

I think that person was impying that the chip is better at gaming 100%, not 100% better at gaming. Regardless, I don't know the stats between the two CPU's or which one is better, I only know that userbenchmark is not a good site to make unbiased comparisons.

Dropped this into my 3-4 yr old AM4 system, to replace my 2700x. Fantastic upgrade for gaming. Won't have to worry about building a new system for a few more years.

I got this for $329 with Uncharted from Newegg in October. It's friggen awesome. It should be mentioned that I upgraded from 1700x so night and day difference. I realized that I'm not as awful at FPS as I thought with a substantial benefit from the new processor. I mean, I still kinda suck but at least I can hit people before getting fragged.

Yeah no, the 5800 X3D is the best gaming CPU on the market at present.

Nope. Any raptor lake 13600k or better beats it. And they all have vastly superior non-gaming performance too.

What do you ACTUALLY notice difference wise? I'm thinking this through myself below:
Quote :
Microcenter has the 5800x3d for $320 and it piqued my interest after researching it, since I'm running a 2700x + 5700 flashed to XT

BUT I found ~$100-120 3700x's locally online, which should provide ~20% improvement for FREE after I sell my 2700x for ~$100 or so also

20% number taken from here:
Ryzen 7 2700X vs. Ryzen 7 3700X: High Refresh Gaming Comparison
Following up to our recent CPU comparison in competitive titles using low quality settings, we're pitting the Ryzen 7 3700X and 10th-gen Core i5-10600K against the 2700X...
www.techspot.com
we see that the Ryzen 7 3700X was on average 20% faster than the 2700X and 26% faster when comparing average fps. Those are some truly impressive generational performance gains.

The 2700X still enabled highly playable performance with smooth frame rates, so for many gamers that difference won't be realized, particularly given you're almost always GPU limited under realistic conditions, high refresh/competitive gaming being about the only exception.

Usage context: Honestly I play older games now, not AAA FPS demanding titles like Battlefield...
I do use OBS to stream though + have many trading windows open which take up a good amount of processing power,
I play the games @ 1440p - 165hz

Conclusion:
Unsure about the value proposition of doing this as I don't FEEL like my CPU is slow at the moment. It doesn't quite feel 100% fast either but game FPS wise I'm well over 100FPS all the time whenever I play Overwatch or other games. Thoughts? Could be fun to just spend it and feel the difference 🤔

13600k is on par with it and anything else is like $200+ more it seems like so... don't have such a big ego that that person is wrong and only you are right. the nuance is a little more in between. this is better value, hands down for anyone that is already on an AM4 socket mobo
https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...,3986.html

Intel.... and you have cash... then sure get the cream of the crop for $500+ cpu and more for mobo. A lot of people shouldn't be spending cash on that value wise unless you're already topping out at 165hz+ frames on a nice monitor etc
