Costco has the last gen Apple TV 4K for $79.99 and $99.99 (32 and 64 gig respectively). Might be worth it if threading or Ethernet is a priority since that isn't available in the new 32 gig version.
Mail in rebates take a lot more effort on the part of the company too. But they are a positive proposition because…?
Now apply the same logic here.
That logic might work if it was still 2005 but I haven't seen a mail in rebate in years. It's all either instant rebate or apply online, but mostly instant because most consumers became wary of mail in rebates so they stopped being effective marketing tools.
Also Amazon and Costco make it super easy to return stuff. Heck, with Amazon I get a refund hours after I drop it off at UPS. So nothing like the PITA process that was the mail in rebate with its cutting and filling out forms the size of an ant then waiting 3 months and if you were lucky you'd get paid, but more often than not you'd get an "invalid" letter because you didn't fill out the form in blue ink.
Does 4K previous gen Siri remote work with these? Watching sports on youtubetv without 15 sec click is painful. Takes 3 button presses just to skip forward/back

Not sure, but I'd love to know if there is a way to click forward/back using the latest generation remote on YTTV as well. The click forward/back for 30 second FF/RW works great on the new remote on Netflix, for YTTV not so much. Asking Siri to rewind 30 seconds when I miss a play is more cumbersome than just clicking a button on the remote.
I wonder how much money they lose annually to not price matching prior purchases. It would be much easier to refund the difference or put it on a gift card vs having you return it to UPS. It's so annoying...
It's not just the money, it's all the fossil fuels we are pumping into the atmosphere by having everyone drive all our stuff back and forth for us.

Does it not work to click the touchpad and drag your finger on the touchpad to get to a specific spot?
I think I rather get the 3rd generation instead, lot faster and better Wi-Fi support.
The A15 is faster, but that probably only matters if you plan on gaming, the A12 is plenty fast for TV watching.
The 2nd gen and 3rd gen are both WiFi 6 (not 6E), not sure why you think the WiFi is better in the new release. I get 600mbps over WiFi on the 2nd gen, which is, again, plenty fast.
The 3rd gen is undoubtedly better than the 2nd gen. The question is what is the dollar value of that improvement? This is a great price on something almost as good.

The newer Siri remote lost the ability for one touch click FF/RW for YouTubeTV, which is essential for watching sporting events that are normally 3 hrs long in under an hour.
exactly, in the fine print. I got mine on Prime and tempted to return. I'm new to apple and it's a farking pain in the ass to get started from square one. Says only one ID needed but won't let me use my apps until I join itunes too. Pissing me off.

If you go look at the thread for the 3rd gen, riddled with complaints of freezing and WiFi disconnects. They're going back to the 2nd gen.
I wonder if there's any difference between this older model and the newest one in term of streaming image quality.
That's for the HD version, not the 4k box.
