If I have a 7th gen i7, is this about the fastest card I can get for gaming before the CPU is the limitation?
Thinking of some 1440p gaming but don't know how far I can push with my setup.
I was gaming on an I5 2500k with a GTX 1060 @1440p Ultrawide (closer to 4k) up until 2020. You should think about upgrading your CPU but if you play older games like BF4 and The Witcher 3 you should be ok.
I ordered this within the first 5 minutes when price first changed to $249, it's estimated coming to me on December 7th. I guess they got a flood of orders, so those order later have to wait for the supply or something.
I ordered both this and the xfx 6700xt. Need to decide which makes more sense for me. My computer that I just built is an i5-12400 - will that limit me if I'm trying to play with the 6700xt on 1440p at 144hz?
edit: did some searching and it seems the i5-12400 and the 6700xt make for a well-balanced pair!
Got one of the XFC 6650s on Black Friday. The framerates on Modern Warfare 2, 1440p were above 120 fps consistently (low shaders, etc). The card got very hot and the fans were extremely loud. The AMD software is also not very good. I ended up boxing it back up and returning it. I'm sure I could have gotten it dialed in, but the savings didn't justify the disappointment.

This good enough?
All other gaming is strictly on PS5.

(There are reasons why nVidia commands a premium. And hrm... Looks like I should have gotten my kid a 2nd hand 2060 instead of the 6600.)
