Saying "USB 3.2 Gen 1" is a marketing term for saying "USB 3.0". It's technically true but specifically designed to mislead people. It's just the same old USB 3.0, max 5 Gbps. Not that you'll even get anywhere close to that speed with this drive, but still.

If you want more storage, there are better deals out there. I bought a 8tb segate "gaming hub" from gamestop for $106 about 4 months ago. Plus this comes with a usb C and type A port. Which u can further increase your storage. Right now I used all 4 Sata slots on my desktop and still needed more space. I added a 2tb sata ssd with a Sata to usb adapter and I had a m.2 enclure ssd plugged in also and all recognized. But the downside is takes up more space then this little drive.

I cant find any deal better then 5TB for about $100. As far as which drive to get I have no idea.
