Thank you for pointing out. First time A23 being free and can be ordered online. Many SDers don't look into old thread with 100 pages and follow every post in it. I figure it deserves a new thread.

Nope. I've done it many times. Automatically unlocks after 181 days if you go to settings and search unlock. Metro can change this policy in the future but it's like that for now and has been for a long few years.

Are you sure it's A23 not A13? I have been following metro for months, A23 has been $49 for new number without port in, and free with port in. A13 is always free.

I am sure. I ordered one A23 together with a moto g stylus 5g 2022 (about 3 weeks ago) and they both have snapdragon 695 cpu. They became free at about the same time.
Thr A23 has only 4gb ram while moto g stylus 5g 2022 has 6gb ram. Almost no point to get the A23 with outdated tear drop display when the moto g stylus 5g 2022 is also free with better display and untrawide camera. Only pro for the A23 is longer software support.

You guys should wait for the better A53 to drop in price.

You are right, it has to be $50 plan for A23. $40 works for other phones.

Hmmm. How come I missed that. A53 is higher end than A23. I doubt it would drop further.

It's very likely to drop to $50 or even lower for new lines. Currently it's $99 for new lines.
The moto g stylus 5g 2022 dropped from $129 to $79, then to $19 and finally to free for new lines.
The A23 dropped from $149 to $99, then to $29.9 or $19.9 and eventually to free.
Following the pattern, we may see the A53 to drop from the current $99 to something like $49. It already dropped from $149 to $99.
