These WIFI extenders are trash. Always dropping connection, and to fix it you have to reboot them. Go for mesh devices such as eero, netgear, Google etc

People hate on these, but they do have a use case. Not great for getting signal in devices that move around, but things that stay in the same location but are out of reach this can be helpful (e.g. smart TVs, smart home devices).

How many do I need ? If I don't get reception there ? I wanna use it w the garage opener to make it Wi-Fi enabled
All the negative comments are mostly appropriate, but this is exactly what I use mine for and it works. I have a standalone garage that is just out of reach of my router. I put this in between the two in a shed and it enables full wireless access to the garage for a security cam and wireless garage door opener. It does actually use the same SSID though despite what others said.

Wireless N in 2022? Avoid
Believe it or not, most smart home devices ONLY connect to 2.4ghz. Dual, triband, and mesh systems can make connection fairly difficult. I can see a use case for this in that regard. As in using this as a sort of hub for your smart home devices.

As noted in several posts, avoid these extenders unless you have a very specific use case (e.g. trying to get a distant security camera online).

If you have coax running to the area that is dead then you can get a moca adapter to run over the coax. You can also use a powerline extender, although there are some gotchas with this.

Threw one of these out several months. Had all sorts of issues getting it to connect properly to my network. I'd pass on this as well. Works when it works, but is infuriating when it acts up (was way more often than not for me).

Also, last I checked, the firmware was very dated and had several vulnerabilities. Might not be an issue to most consumers, but might be something to check for others.

Yep, exactly why I use these - they're perfect for older smart home equipment - I have my pool controller running on one to connect into my mesh network.

This is because all extenders use half the bandwidth to communicate back to the main router so it only has half the bandwidth to communicate with the clients. If you run an ethernet cable and use this as an access point, your speed won't drop.
Thanks for the info, I wasn't aware of that. But according to the documentation this particular model can't be used with ethernet.

"Can I connect the extender to the router with an Ethernet cable?
No. The extender is designed to connect wirelessly to the router or access point."

I've used two of these for 7 years. Used as wifi to lan bridge on a Poe switch for 4 IP cams at 2k resolution each. Never had issues. Never had to restart it. Infact, it was heavily covered in garage dust/grime/humidity.

Yes, can vouch that if your moving around it doesn't do to well.

Agree...I use it with a switch to connect couple of devices that need hardwired connections. I also use it to connect a FireTV 4k stick to stream videos, rarely had any issues with buffering or otherwise.

I have this exact piece and use it to provide my work computer a hardwired connection as required so I don't have to do any rewiring of the house. It has worked well for years. It hiccups a handful of times per year but is always solved with a reset. Highly recommended if you have a similar purpose.

I'll add this is a great price and it is definitely not "trash".

Wlalmart has Besunny brand WiFi Extender 1200Mbps WiFi Booster Covers 2500Sq.Ft, Dual Band Wall-Plug Internet Extender, Easy Setup for $19.99
How would this compare to the original post on Amazon?
Got mostly good reviews but might just be Besunny"s mom promoting, hoping he'll succeed and move out of the house.

Had one of these. Horrible, never worked properly. Since going to mesh router, I have full coverage everywhere. No issues.

Most people are better off getting a mesh system instead of this extender.

These are garbage even in those situations. Ridiculously slow and laggy. Almost non-functional. I've tried extending two different homes with these and they fall miserably. Smart tv? Buffer endlessly. Alexa? Sorry, I can't connect right now! Do yourself a favor and buy a basic mesh network. Here's a ridiculously cheap name brand one with three satellites for $69 after WOWFRESH coupon. Cheaper than some people pay for a month of internet.
