Gaming? No. It runs integrated graphics. There's a vid for everything. Someone actually tested this CPU & IGP in a bunch of games.

Here are the specs for the mobo:

https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c08132262

Someone smarter than me can tell you if this is proprietary or not, and how all that matters, but according to the above it does have a PCIe 3x16 slot. Something to check is what size card can physically fit into this particular case if you do add a GPU.

Imo, pay the extra for ADL and 4GB ram.

I've always had Dell's, never a HP. How are they in terms of reliability? I'm also assuming they have their own propriety PSU - is that easy to replace or get parts for? TIA!

What about case, PS, keyboard, mouse? Wouldn't that bring the price close to this?
Use the case and PSU combo that's selling for $50 and kb/m is $20.

So $80 less than the prebuilt that doesn't require building and a newer cpu and has a warranty?

The pre built from HP came out cheaper than the sum of the parts
Well it's a damn good thing we're on a deal site.

Over the past 3 weeks (or likely the next 3 weeks) if you buy parts a deal at a time and set up a PCPartPicker build to confirm compatibility, you can absolutely beat this price with a better PC to show for it.

Not to mention using /r/hardwareswap on Reddit for used parts.

My last PC was built over a couple months (a year later I finally scored a GTX 1070 which cost as much as the rest of the build) mostly based on sales here, like a CPU/Mobo (Z-170) bundle, then 16GB of ram, then a 1TB nvme drive. Granted it's well outdated now, but still plenty for Rocket League or CS:GO hell I could run those at least at 4K@75hrz, if not higher.

This PC's power supply is only 310W, and it's proprietary, so can't be upgraded. Even if it could, being PCIe gen 3 rules out any of the small, budget cards. Cheap cards with limited VRAM, like the RX6500, will have their performance cut in half once it runs out of VRAM at anything above ultra-low 1080p settings. More expensive cards with more VRAM run fine on PCIe gen 3, with around 2% reduction in performance. All that doesn't matter, though, since it's got a non-upgradeable 310W PSU. There's no more power overhead to add a GPU.

Can it be used for moderate gaming? If not, what kind of graphics card does it take?
I'd look elsewhere if you're looking for a cheap gaming rig. It'll run a few esports titles and really old games at the lowest settings, but that's about it. The power supply in this is only 310W. There's not enough power headroom for even the lowest end GPU's, and the power supply is non-upgradeable. The only thing upgradeable on these are the CPU, RAM, and storage. This is how HP and Dell do business. They want customers to buy a new machine instead of upgrading their current one, so they make it impossible to upgrade. It's a pretty decent office machine for the price if you don't care about upgradeability.
