Thanks, these look to be a good deal. A certain cashback site is offering 8% on tools today too.
High leverage = you can use them to ask for a raise at work, but it might get you arrested...

i have not had a lot of resistance from HD, it may take calling the manager or several folks before getting to the right person, or the call center but they usually get it right. i purchased ecosmart LED lights (HD brand) couple years ago. they did not have the same model number anymore. the manager told me to go pick up a replacement, I got a different design, same brand with a bit higher cost. He just took the old box told me to hold on to the new one and to have a nice day.

Different experience with the eco smart bulbs. Went to store for warranty replacement and the associate can't find the SKU in their system. I brought receipt and the entire box with three failed bulbs and good ones. They plainly refused to do anything for 1) SKU no longer valid, they couldn't identify a same product, 2) the system didn't take the receipt either as it was from three years ago, so they can't issue a refund. I gave up then, not worth the time for a few bucks.

call the warranty number, talk to CS and ask them to call the store and talk to the manager. after that communication go to store and ask for that manager. I would also get an email from CS detailing what the manager needs to do (keep that email for any future replacement).

and, yes, I agree, HD needs to educate their managers; same as lowes some don't know their own brands . . . . pathetic.

the good thing is that HD phone warranty folks are actually very knowledgeable.

Advice for the many people with warranty issues at ANY retail store: call or chat online with customer service FIRST. Make sure they know what store you want to go to and you should have a lot less problems. The way a lot of retail managers are trained these days, they view every return that's not accompanied by a receipt (or purchased with a credit card they can look up easily), new in the box, and within the first 30 days with suspicion. If you can find a manager who's been with the company for years, that can be helpful as well. But gone are the days of simple and easy "just go to the store" replacements even with "no-hassle" warranties.

I have some similar tools from other brands. The extra leverage the extra joint provides is real. Makes a huge difference in cutting power on the dykes which is what I use most.

Same experience with LOWes, they will give you the run around, lie, intimidate, and will threaten you, even when the warranty clearly states, "No Hassle" .

When I attempted to warranty a broken Kobalt ratchet, tool department manager told me they routinely contact the authorties when they know someone is stealing. After arguing with three managers and contractor sales specialist, they finally gave in and gave me eplace the ratchet.

Craftsman warranty at LOWes is another issue. Let just say, I no longer purchase any Craftsman products.
I used a kobalt socket to get off some lug nut lock nuts...the key broke and I had no other option. Lowes was like I misused the socket. I had 3 that were basically jammed with the lock nut inside, ultimately they swapped one but it was no cake walk. Alternatively, I emailed craftsman and sent them a pic of a busted ratchet and they sent me a new ratchet via the mail

I guess I should have written a certain "top cashback" site to demystify things a bit..?

Got it yesterday, thought was buying a decent set of pliers. But it's not that, the 'high leverage' part of this is the killer part. These are great.

Bought these from the store yesterday. The jaw tips on the lineman and needle nose pliers don't actually close all the way. There's about a half mm gap. If you're working with thicker wiring, that might not be an issue. But if you're using the pliers to actually grip something small, it ain't gonna do it. Upon closer inspection, the tips don't close all the way because the wire cutting portion in the back of the plier is already touching each other. They made a design choice to ensure the wire cutters were always touching but not the tip of the pliers. Compared to my $35 Klein 8"needle nose, the tip and wire cutter have no gap when plier is closed. Guess it's another case of "you get what you paid for"

What exactly makes this set "special". I saw it in store and tried out the linemen pliers and they didn't seem to open as wide as normal sets??
