Thanks, these look to be a good deal. A certain cashback site is offering 8% on tools today too.
High leverage = you can use them to ask for a raise at work, but it might get you arrested...

was my go to brand until lowes made it very difficult on my last warranty exchange.

I would buy half a dozen Klein cable cutters of a year due to my line of work. All eventually chipped and fail. I collected my set of 15+ and sent them in to Klein for their warranty. Showed proof of purchase. They denied. "wear and tear" are excluded from warranty. That's how most tool makers roll when it comes to cutting hand tools.

Home Depot's Husky brand has been a good experience. But getting replacements on some items because of no stock has been frustrating. Things sold in sets are not readily available as single sellable items on the shelves.

It's a shame that HF tools have a better warranty than Kobalt/Lowes.

Seemed like some quality tools. I bought. Most of these are that price individually.
I bought a lot of kobalt hand tools back when Lowes was constantly having clearance sales. Their pliers are pretty good. I used the Linesman pliers a lot when I was updating switches and outlets.

Lowes will swap your Kobalt tools on the spot if they fail.

Yea weird how lowes no question ask warrantys have a lot of questions.
20+ years ago the warranty was great, but the last 10 years it progressively just became a massive garbage pile. i would rather buy my tools from walmart, HF, HD before I buy anything with the name Kobalt on it.

the only thing i buy from lowes is raw material and items that do not require warranty after 30 days

I had to call customer service at HD because they wouldn't warranty my Husky box knife. The call center had to tell him to do it because they don't have anything, it's just in store. Just like Sears when I worked there, they replace with the closest model for features.

cap.

they may swap if hey have the exact tool. they will not give you cash refund if they do not have it or if kobalit no longer makes it.

about 10 years ago, I spent 45min arguing with the manager who did not want to exchange telling me that I should call Kobalt, he did not even know that Kobalt was Lows brand. and after all the BS he end up calling someone and was told to do the swap. got no apology, just a look like I was doing something wrong.

about 7 years ago, another exchange. did not bring the whole collection of the tool with me, told them to just swap the part that failed. was told that they need to see the entire set . . . this was a very unique tool, the replaceable part only came with this tool. had to drive back home collect all the stuff, came back . . . was greeted with more attitude.

about 3 years ago, spent over 2 hours dealing with the store, on the phone with Kobalt, managers . . . Kobalt changed the design of the tool, stopped the production of the one that was sold to me. manager could not understand that it was same line of tool, just a upgrade . . . the numbers did not match and he could not find a replacement of my tool in the computer. after dancing around, she told me that she was able to find my tool at a much lower discounted price at a store located in another state, she told me I can go pick it up from their or she can give me a store credit for that amount.

so unless all the stars align it's a big cluster. I gave up on their warranty long time ago and just stopped buying their tools all together. when lowes started to attach store credit to ID, not accept other vendor coupons, that is when I just stopped buying most of the stuff from them. i only buy items from them that have no need for return after 30 days.

i have not had a lot of resistance from HD, it may take calling the manager or several folks before getting to the right person, or the call center but they usually get it right. i purchased ecosmart LED lights (HD brand) couple years ago. they did not have the same model number anymore. the manager told me to go pick up a replacement, I got a different design, same brand with a bit higher cost. He just took the old box told me to hold on to the new one and to have a nice day.

Same experience with LOWes, they will give you the run around, lie, intimidate, and will threaten you, even when the warranty clearly states, "No Hassle" .

When I attempted to warranty a broken Kobalt ratchet, tool department manager told me they routinely contact the authorties when they know someone is stealing. After arguing with three managers and contractor sales specialist, they finally gave in and gave me eplace the ratchet.

Craftsman warranty at LOWes is another issue. Let just say, I no longer purchase any Craftsman products.

Home Depot and Harbor Freight have the best hand tool warranties currently.

If you bought the Kleins from Home Depot, take the receipts (or if you have a Home Depot credit card they can look them up) and the pliers to store and ask for a manager. A good manager will replace them for you.

I tried to swap a kobalt ratchet that was not working smoothly and kept reversing. They wanted to see the receipt to process it as a return and rebuy. After about 20 min of arguing I got the swap done. Last time I tried to swap a tool under warranty was craftsman at sears like 30 years ago. He looked at the tool, gave me a new one off the shelf and threw the broken one in a bucket of broken tools behind the register. No paper work. In the bucket were wrenches that had obviously been purposely bent for a job, cut off to fit somewhere and other severely abused tools. They really would take anything back if it was remotely possible it was a craftsman. Those days are over...

I have a Kobalt socket the split (looks like defect in the casting), I just use my other socket from HF set, because I just don't want to deal with the BS lowes is going to put me thought just to replace that single socket. The warranty is just not worth the aggravation.
