Normally rewards are a 10% bonus but until 12/30/2022, you can get 20% off your gift card (which is 25% added value to the card). So in other words, you can get a $100 GameStop Gift Card for just $80 of your Cashback Rewards. Lowest card value is $15, highest is $200 but you can get multiple ones.

Flip this however you want:
  • Effectively get 20% off eShop, PSN, Xbox cards
  • Wait for good deals and pay with this to effectively get 20% off
  • Buy some overpriced regular items and effectively get 20% off to make them almost normal price.
The possibilities are limitless. Well, as limitless as their stock in your store....

I'll make this very clear for you unlike the others. You can only buy digital currency gift cards with the gamestop gift card: PSN, Xbox, eShop, Steam, Fortnite, etc. You cannot buy other types of gift cards: Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Doordash, etc.

It's actually described both ways and people were confused anyway. I posted it the way that makes sense from the perspective of redeeming your Cashback because this is a Cashback redemption, its how Discover lists it on their site, and its how others have posted it in the past.

Hmm. It has been several years since you could get 5% off when spending TGT GCs, and even then, it had to be used along with some partial payment of another type. I am surprised they are giving in to you, even if you are splitting payment up that way.

It used to be so nice to do that with small OOP spend, and mostly GC for transactions.Smilie

Thanks for the post and great timing. Had about $500 in rewards. Cashed in about $428 of those rewards for $535 in GS GCs. Was able to buy my new CPU and mobo I've been sitting on for awhile. Plus, clicking through Rak***n earned me another 10% in rewards for my purchase. I'll take it!

Should be no problem. I use GameStop gift cards for Steam digital codes without issues. If you are not sure, you can spend $8 of rewards to get the $10 GameStop gift card to try on the $10 Google Play digital code.

if i buy a $200 gamestop GC but only use $150 of it, it will still have the remaining balance of $50 correct? i wasn't sure if its like those scenarios where if you don't use the full balance in one transaction, then u lose the rest

also, the digital xbox GC, can those be used at xbox.com lfor hardware like headsets/consoles/controllers? just checking the GC isn't limited to digital purchases like games, music etc.

Thanks for responding though, and yes I think it's scammy too. If it's an offer for cardholders, then it's an offer for cardholder. The benefits are so low after the first year it should be automatic, but at least there's no annual fee on the card. I'm going to set an alarm to remember to call tomorrow.

Yeah I got the GC number and pin number immediately at the checkout. I bought two GC in two separate days. I think Microsoft allows hardware purchases with their GC. You might want to double check.

Logged into my Discover, seems my added value for GameStop is only 20%, not 25% :/

Edit: Funny enough, they say it's 20% added value in the site, when the math actually checks out to 20% off and 25% added value ($200 gc for $160) lol now I see why so many people were having issues figuring the maths out.

I'm trying to purchase $100 of PSN and Xbox store gift cards and the checkout won't let me. It accepts the gift card and knows the balance, but won't complete the transaction. Tried calling the number given but GameStop is closed. Got one $50 PSN card to go through by itself but blocked on the rest. Will try tomorrow. Worst case I'll go to a store, I guess. Fortunately I live close.

EDIT: after a couple days I was able to fully redeem my gift card. I think there are initial limits at GameStop to protect against fraud, but once it "fully processed" at Discover I finished it off.
