You obviously haven't been following the other samsung threads, this is the lowest they have been at best buy, and if you're smart you can buy used phones online and trade them in for a superb deal.

DO NOT do a trade in at Union City, CA best buy, the idiot at the Mobile section goes through everything with a literal magnifying glass looking to deny trade ins. Spectacular waste of time.

I'm gonna try trading-in my 2 x S20 FE for as S22 Ultra and a S22+ or Flip 4 later today.

I understand many stores refuse to stack it. Is there a way to avoid this uncertainty by initiating the trade-in online online and visiting the store for an in-person pick-up + evaluation of trade-in?

Also, I see T-Mobile and AT&T are generally $100 less than my provider. For 2 phones, this translates to a savings of $200. Any tips to avail T-Mobile pricing?
Eg. If I sign up for 2 new lines under cheapest plan and cancel it within a month, how much would it cost me including one-time fees?

I have T-Mobile. According to that page, you'll get stuck with one month worth of billing. The only way you'll know if you'll get stuck with having to pay off that additional $100 discount per phone would be to look at the fine print when you are at Best Buy.

What all joking aside, my s21 has 128 GB of storage And I'm only using about half. Every once in awhile I clean out my photos and videos because they're backed up to Google photos.
256GB version has 12GB RAM , where as 128 GB has 8 GB RAM.

It's funny about the extra ram. The first question I always ask myself is why do I need the extra RAM. It has to be a driving reason.

And usually it's for image processing, editing, etc Because for a phone, there's really not much need for 12 GB of RAM.

So if the s22 ultra with 8 GB of RAM is enough for the phone to function then I wonder if the 12 gig of RAM is just a way to develop these artificial tears of performance. Throwing more storage and more RAM. But it doesn't really buy anybody anything in terms of RAM.

I haven't looked at the benchmarks and I don't even know if the 12 GB RAM version is higher performing than the 8 GB RAM version.

Will they accept a locked phone or does it have to be unlocked?

I've been following this thread all week and wanted to report back after visiting BB last night. After following the directions someone posted a few pages back we got the deal to work correctly. First i traded in a S20FE for a S22. $50 plus tax out the door. Second i traded a S21 for a 256 GB S22 which i had to order. They said that if i wanted to keep my phone they could do a price adjustment when i picked it up and they would still have the discount saved in the system. I didn't really want to chance losing the discount for whatever reason, so i brought an old phone with me to drop my SIM into for a week. Going this way they processed my trade in and did a preactivation on the new phone so the deal is completed. $99 plus tax out the door and i get to deal with a pixel 3 for a week. The guys were super helpful at BB and knew about all the promotions. Just have to tell them you want to do the Samsung trade in not a carrier trade.

Edit: Forgot to add that I did activate the phones onto my Sprint account. These were existing lines that I "upgraded" by purchasing a new device. The rep did have an issue finding the S20FE at first but a second more senior rep that was helping showed him how to get into a larger list of phones which had more options. I added a breakdown in a couple more pages.

The phone can be carrier locked. It doesn't matter. I traded in 3 phones that were still on a payment plan and getting credits on TMobile. They were all carrier locked to Tmo.

If you are using Samsung DEX you 12 GB RAM makes a difference, for day to day photos and etc 8 GB RAM should be just fine. Can't comment on gaming, I would assume 12 GB performs better

Just traded in S20 FE for an S22 Ultra. Paid $287 OTD, rep acknowledged the double dip of promos and got both to apply. Activated on T-Mobile.

Did you get the 128 or 256 gb version? What was your tax?

Excellent point. I've used dex with an S4 tablet but yes the extra RAM would come in handy for that.

My experience at BB last night was smooth, traded in S20 FE for Flip 4(128 gb). Got 600 for S20 FE (400 coupon + 200 Giftcard). Total paid for unlocked flip4 was $12.49 (taxes after coupon is applied).
I had to opt for Tmobile new service cheapest available was essentials $65 per month. Rep exactly knew what to do, only rule they had was they had to open the phone and put the sim in to make sure it works.
I ported that number to Tello(esim) following Genghis_Khan's instructions which is around $6 which I plan to cancel on their site. --> This part is to cancel tmobile service indirectly without any activation/other charges and to deal with tmobile reps to cancel. Tello has referral program which I did not know earlier, you can ask someone who has tello for code.
I had trouble getting the transfer pin from tmobile app so had to call customer service for this.
zflip4 cost 999.99 - 400 tradein coupon - 400 tmobile activation coupon =199.99
199.99 + tax 12.50 - 200 GC = $12.49

So I bought the s22u and opened new t-mobile account and activated the phone to get the $450 discount.

Now what is the best option to cancel the Tmobile line?
1. Port it to Tello or any other carrier?
2. Call Tmobile and cancel?

Which option would be good? If I port the nuber to another carrier do I have to pay activation fee or anything for tmobile, even though I have not used the Sim yet.

TIA
