We have 2, the larger original and the smaller second generation. Many drawbacks. Heating off of the charging station doesn't last all that long. Cannot microwave for a jump start if things go cold. Capacity of the smaller model is at best a small cup of tea. Feel of the handle is thin and lacking in diameter such that it's prone to slipping from grip. Not dishwasher safe.

I bought this and returned it. I prefer my hot drinks at around 160F but if I remember correctly the max ember can do is about 145F. Also at the max temperature setting it only lasts a hour off the coaster/charger.
You're better off getting a nice insulated coffee cup with a lid

I have three of these, two 14-oz and one 10-oz. (Get the 14-oz.) Yes, they are a luxury. But they are so nice.

wife and i really enjoy this mug. luckily, found them pretty cheap on offerup. makes tea drinking easy and convenient. only drawback is the weight of the cup can trick you into thinking you have more of your drink leftover when you actually don't lol.

Well. There are many products which SDers, many of them tech pioneers adopt. Some work, some are meh and some change your life.

This is the "change the life" one. I am surprised why no one thought about this.

I have three now. I drink a lot more tea and coffee. You cannot overstate the value of your beverage temperature being same from first slip to last.

This is better $99 than many other similar fancy things.

As someone who loves their Ember mug and would hate to live without it...
It has serious flaws and the mfgs don't seem to care about fixing them.

To me, you can have one or the other... horrible battery life or glacier slow charging speeds.
Ember has them both.
I am also pretty sure that it doesn't charge while on the charger if there is liquid in the mug, so you can't get ahead of the problem.

But when it works, it works perfectly. I like my coffee at 135 and it is that temp to the last drop (as long as it is charged).
But by my 3rd cup, without the coaster nearby, it is deader than a doornail and takes like 4 hours to recharge.

Lucky for me, I got it at a Target clearance for $60, I can't imagine paying the $120 msrp they are asking for it.

Paid $12 for two metal insulted Magellan cups at Academy and that keeps my coffee very hot for the time I need to finish drinkingmy cup. I was almost going to buy this, but no need.

I like simple segregation of tasks: cost less, more flexibility and cost less to replace.

$14.39 . . Mr.Coffee Mug. . https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Coffee-...B000CO89T8

$1-2 . . . . to replace the mug

I ended up buying a gen1 Ember for around 60 on Mercari. Ended up selling it a couple months later. It has a cool factor but darn if that mug isn't heavy when you are used to a Tervis coffee mug and unless you want to buy multiple coasters to keep around your house it just becomes more of a pain trying to keep it warm.
