There are two ethernet ports each on the main router and both of the satellites so a total of six
If you use wired backhaul (which is obviously the preferred way to go) then only one is free on each satellite, for a total of two.
Personally that wouldn't be a desirable setup but I'm not so sure it would deter me from buying this one at this price if it's reviews are reliable.

What is the difference between wired back haul and just plugging things into the ethernet ports normally? I have at least one port used on each including the main router and the two satellites. I actually have one satellite where both ports are being used and I have no issues and easily get the speeds I need.

In basic terms: the satellites are connected directly by wire to the router resulting in increased speed, throughput and reliability over pure wireless mesh.
I guess it depends on what you're using it for, but for the average consumer it would work just fine. I basically use this mesh router system for streaming 4K movies, hi-fi music, and my security cameras. I don't use wired back haul whatsoever, and I never have connection issues. The satellite Wi-Fi speeds are not as high speed as the main router, but they are close.
Not every house is alike and these units will work different in every house out there. Then, you have to consider the technicals like, by going Wi-Fi backhaul you're dealing with half duplex vs full duplex you get in wired plus the hops required to reach the router, etc ... I'm just trying to keep it basic though here.
