Uh, just FYI, unless you've got some kind of secret deal going on, that plan isn't actually $15 though. US Mobile charges a $2 service fee every month along with a $1-$5 regulatory fee. So it's more like $18 to $22 per month (before tax). It's listed right on their plans page. Scroll down to the FAQ section and open up the one for "What are the taxes & fees". This is the one bad aspect to US Mobile. They're not straightforward with their prices.
True. I moved from US Mobile's Individual Plans to the Pooled Plans since they only have $0.48 fee per line and only $2/GB. Taxes already included in those plans. For my wife and I sharing 3 GB, it's under $25.

This is a tempting deal too. I really liked Tello's prices and solid support.

Ultramobile PayGo is $3 a month. 100 minutes, 100 text messages, and 100 mb of data. For low usage users that want to stick to paying monthly, this is the best deal out there.

Two other ones include the $10 per 90 days pay as you go plans from H2O and Black Wireless. So, essentially $3.33 per month (before tax). 5 cents per minute, 5 cents per text message, and 10 cents per mb of data. Although this doesn't provide as much bang for your buck as with the ultramobile paygo plan, both H2O and Black Wireless use the AT&T network which provides better coverage than Ultramobile which uses the T-Mobile network. Depending on where you're located, the difference in coverage may be important.

Alternatively, if you're fine with locking yourself to a provider for long periods of time and forgo the flexibility of a monthly plan, there are other choices as well. For example, redpocket has a $30 per year plan (under their annual plans section) that offers 200 minutes, 1000 text messages, and 200mb of data a month. This equals around $2.50 a month. So it's a heck of a deal, but you'd lose the flexibility of a monthly plan. Also, as for networks, redpocket allows you the choice of network, whether that be AT&T or T-Mobile. (they also have verizon, but it seems like it's just the old CDMA technology and not their new GSM tech)

$15+taxes and fees. Would you say those extras will still keep the monthly well under $20? I may switch my mom to this from xfinity mobile.

Wow you seem to know a lot about these low-usage plans, any of them are compatible with Apple Watch Cellular models? Would be nice to get something about $5/month as it will rarely be used on cell plan but occasional outdoor runs for my wife when she doesn't want to take the phone along. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the apple watch.

All I know is that you can't just use any phone plan on it. Only a small subset of companies support it.

Apple seems to have a list of compatible companies here:

If you pay your monthly bill with T-Mobile refill card, they is no tax and fees. $15 flat per month. You can save 5% off the refill cards if you purchase from Target with RedCard. Occasionally, Target has additional discounts 5% to 10% off the refill cards.

awesome, thank you. I was also reading about adding apple watch and I don't know if the article (May 2022) is up-to-date, but you can only add apple watch to a T-mobile "Magenta" plan for $5/month? Do you know if you can add to a prepaid plan? hug

Don't forget about textfree fully unlimited free call and text plan with ads. The problem is that data is expensive. However, if you can stick to WiFi, this would be the cheapest way to go.

Off-topic, is there a plan that gives 2GB data and low minutes and low texts per month?

All I care about is the monthly price.

Thanks.

Freedompop still has a free plan: 10 minutes, 10 texts and 25 mb per month for free. Just pay $10 for a SIM card.
The catch is that you have to log into their website and renew the plan each month; it doesn't automatically renew.
Yes this is the same Freedompop that has gotten horrendous reviews in the past for how awful their customer service used to be. I think they have gotten better but so many people have had a bad experience and won't ever go back.

To get the Tello 5GB deal, you need to place the $10 order by December 16. When creating an account, don't forget to click referral code below "confirm password" so you get $10 Tello Dollars. After placing the order, you will then have 30 days to activate the new SIM. After activating the SIM, you request the port, but that does not have to be done right away if you want to stretch it out a little longer.

If I were to do this deal, I would get the 5GB for $10 for the first month, then downgrade for the second month, manually renewing the day before the scheduled autorenewal and redeeming Tello dollars. The unused data will roll over as long as you manually renew. I would probably get the 1GB/500 minutes for month two which would be fully covered by the referral rewards. So, I would get 6GB and two months of service for the initial $10. Then for month three, I would probably downgrade again to the 1GB/100 minutes for $7, again manually renewing a day early to roll unused data and whatever is left from the 500 minutes purchased for the second month. The nice thing about Tello is you can change plans every month if you decide you need more or less data/minutes.

This would be an awesome deal if these plans weren't hard capped
