The RAM is soldered in but 16GB is plenty for most people. At this price, you would only expect to get 4 or 8GB.
The SSD is an M.2 and is upgradeable but note that it is SATA, not NVME. In addition, there is a hatch on the bottom side that opens to a bay to add another SATA M.2 SSD.

Can you tell me if the USB C port supports : Charging and Video Out?
Yes and no, on paper, yes... and I confirmed it worked on a smaller external monitor (power and video to external monitor over USB-C)
It also will receive power and charge from an external monitor that is plugged into the wall over USB-C.
However, I have a 49" Dell U4919DW which the laptop does not send video to. The laptop gets power from the monitor, but never sends a video signal the monitor understands. I tried everything but can't get it to work.
What's the largest monitor resolution wise you got the USB-C port to work with? I'd love to hear this is a hardware defect so I can swap mine out, but I think it is probably some type of limitation.
Also, can you check if the BIOS is unlocked... someone mentioned that the BIOS is unlocked and you can boost the Processor TDP to 30W (up from normal 15W) to give better performance (At the cost of battery life etc..)

thanks I plan to use it with a USB C Hub that supports 2 displays at 1080 P and also charge the Laptop...
I use the below hub with my office laptop and I just need to plug in 1 USB C Cable into the laptop to charge it and simultaneously support 2 external monitors ... want to sue the similar hub with this laptop...
So tempting at this price, but so many problems with the screen.
Most warranties require you to deal with the OEM first, and Gateway seems to be even more useless than most companies' warranty departments. I don't travel a lot but I do want to be able to take it places without worrying about the screen frame breaking.
Still on the lookout for a 13.3-14" with either 16 GB of RAM or, at least, non-soldered/empty slot.
My first desktop that wasn't a hand-me-down from a neighbor was a Gateway 2000. I still have the scratchy yellow foam wrist rest and we have something stored in the cow box in the garage. How the mighty have fallen...
Gateway isn't a real company anymore. This is just a Chinese fly by night that licensed the name (not Acer)

The overall build quality of gateway laptops was really flimsy from the ins store displays on black Friday
My 10yo son inquired about a laptop for Christmas. Will this run Roblox sufficiently? Min requirements for Roblox are 1.6GHZ processor and basic graphics card.

A friend of mine got the Walmart deal for a Gateway laptop with 256GB HD and 8GB RAM for $200 a month ago. The first one was defective and got a replacement. Everything I heard for the replacement is it's working good for her purposes.
Thanks, but I am aware of that deal, and that's all the specs I need. I'm just so leery of that Gateway, w/ so many people having complaints. I think I'd be better served paying more, perhaps w/ an HP or Asus or Acer.

my kid used the heck out of a Gateway Ryzen 5 based laptop for 2.5 year (School, Minecraft, valaran etc..)... it is still going strong ... so don't discount the brand just because of internet...

Yeah, you pays your money & you takes your chances.
If you don't mind refurbished devices, watch for the Dell refurbished website deals. I got a 13.3 inch Latitude 7390 (2 in 1) . Older processors, mine was an 8th gen quad core i5, but it's windows 11 upgradable, solid build quality, good screen, and backlit keyboard. I paid roughly $275 for it after tax and it has 16gb soldered ram and 512gb Samsung SSD.
I keep almost pulling the trigger when these come up, but 100 day warranty + can't return if you don't like it is making me wait for a Dell Outlet deal and not a refurb. Especially since I'd be buying 2 of them.
