Should add that if you have a microcenter near you, they sell this same processor for $238.99 plus a free set of 32gb ddr5, plus an additional $20 off when you buy an eligible motherboard.

Hmm, I only see free 16gb ram not 32gb on the site...

You can talk to the store staff/manager but highly YMMV.

It's 16gb, the 32 GB was a glitch in their system that they decided to honor at the start of the deal.

I liked the Micro center bundle for the Ryzen 5 but even with the free 16gb ram the motherboards are like $500 and up. You're looking at $700 to $1000 for the bundle.

No, cause AM5 boards are mostly $200+ and not worth their price tags. Mobo prices for AM5 are a joke.

I would imagine any B650 motherboard would be good. I would choose based on the amount of I/O ports you might need.

Thank you. Looks like I HAVE to have DDR5 memory and I don't want to spend that much. Will keep an eye out for a smoking AM4 deal.

I would still wait a few months before buying AM5 platform. Need more choices still. And for prices to normalize a bit… and wait for 3D v cache versions to arrive

If you're looking to buy now, then yes, I believe that's the right play. You'll can find some great deals on AM4 and DDR4 kits.

However if you aren't in a hurry to buy right now, AM5 early adopter tax should drop off early next year and DDR5 is already starting to slowly decrease in price. The DDR5 6000 CL30 kit I got on-sale for $225 just a month ago is now down to $210.
