What's the big deal? I have 6- and 12-point sockets and I've never broken any of them. People act like it matters so much, but it doesn't. I've never seen a six point combination wrench, and now there's ratcheting combination wrenches, and none of them are six point. If a bolt gets stripped, it sucks, but it probably needed to be replaced anyway if it was that bad.
There are plenty of 6-point combination and ratcheting wrench sets out there. I've definitely stripped some bolt heads using 12-point wrenches and sockets over the years. However I'm a very active shade-tree mechanic and DIY're and in the big picture not many. I've learned that if a 12-point wrench starts slipping, STOP and get a 6-point before you damage the bolt head too much.

Personally I prefer 6pt because they have been less likely to strip rusted or stubborn bolt/nuts. I have actually broken a couple of 12pt sockets, but I was absolutely doing things I shouldn't have been with them.....

edit: To your statement, you are absolutely correct, if it strips with a 12 it probably needs to be replaced. However, replacing it after it's out without stripping is preferable to stripping it while it's in....

I like the socket set pieces I own from Husky. You have to be careful with sets that tout numbers of pieces, many can be cheap filler pieces.

Cobalt is their equivalent at Lowes, not Craftsman. Anything made by Craftsman now isn't the same as when Sears owned it back in the day. Craftsman quality declined over time before Sears died anyway.

Yup, then probably a new case too because they likely won't fit in this one.

12 points are a no go especially with a good ratchet.

Well, my thirty years of using 12 point sockets without any problem says otherwise.
