Look into Phoenix contact pluggable version. It is more or less hot swappable

Since these are designed to essentially self destruct, I prefer them to be outside with a fire barrier behind them.

Good deal. Especially cause this is for the pro model which gives 140KA protection. Eatons $140 model which is arguably the most popular option doesn't come close to this

Agreed! This is arguably the best level 2 SPD for residential. If you know what you are doing and comply with current NEC electrical codes for your state, you can DIY; otherwise hire a professional. You can even install this flush mount for a clean look.
