Picked it up this afternoon. Nice overall, screen manufacturer|device ID is CMN1538 Innolux IPS panel. Backlit keyboard is very nice with two levels of brightness control and off state. Will add 8gb stick, upgrade wifi to Intel 6 and swap drive for 1TB that I bought earlier. Will post pics once I get it opened. converted to Win 11 home with no issues. came with F21 latest bios installed.

Thanks appreciate it. However I successfully upgraded wireless card to Intel AX210NGW. Added 8GB memory and upgraded drive to 500GB NVME drive that I had around. The first picture is as configured from factory. The other two are after upgrades installed.

This is the "better" 4 core i3, if that matters to anyone.

I bought the 15-dy2791wm on a WalMart pre-black Friday sale for $249 and while I believe it is worth every penny, I would pay the $50 more for the better screen in this alone. Mine also has a somewhat slower processor and I get really nice speeds on routine web and MS Office type tasks. Photoshop Essentials runs fine on it too. This one should perform a little better.
Agree, this is essentially the same laptop they have been selling at Costco for the past 2 years ($350-450) but I prefer the 1125 cpu bc it has four full speed cores

Will this ram & SSD work with the HP 15-dy2035tg Laptop?

Is it worth $50 more than this laptop?

That's the better bang for buck. It's a TN screen, but IPS are notorious for high response times

Same laptop $50 more for i5?

HP 15.6" Screen FHD Laptop, Intel Core i5-1135G7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Natural Silver, Windows 11 Home, 15-dy2795wm https://www.walmart.com/ip/480912399
It appears that it is the same outside the CPU, but neither one lists much detail about the screens. Others have said the laptop in this deal has an IPS panel screen, which is probably mediocre but being IPS still much preferable to a TN panel screen.

From a CPU perspective, the i5-1135G7 is almost identical to the i3-1125G4. They are both quad core with hyperthreading, the i5 having slightly higher clocks. (Intel has recently been blurring the lines between what features you get with a laptop i3 vs a laptop i5.)

The most notable upgrade one gets with the i5 is the on-chip graphics processing unit (Intel Iris Xe) is quite a bit faster than the GPU on the i3 (Intel UHD), so the upgrade might be worth it if one wants to do some casual gaming that would benefit from a faster GPU. If not, the extra $50 doesn't make sense.

Edit: Reviews indicate the Walmart i5 laptop does not have backlit keyboard.

PNY option will work at CL22 JDEC profile according to a review at Bestbuy. There are cheaper options at Amazon [amazon.com]

NVME drive you have selected will also work.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I brought these for another HP laptop back in June for a cheaper price.

Not to discourage you; just to offer a counter-perspective...
I was on the fence on this unit, but value-for-$ just isn't compelling. If I'm in your situation -- $300 (laptop) + $131 (RAM+SSD upgrade) + tax spending budget -- I'd first shop in that price range for a 15.6". Even if you're pressed to find 16GB at that price point, but you could potentially get other upgrades -- CPU, graphics, display, ports, etc. -- that are a better value-for-$. **That** unit would then be well worth the cost to bump to 16GB (if it doesn't already have it).

Just another perspective. Good luck!

They were going in a HP Pavilion 14t-dv200 Laptop I have. But I was thinking about giving that to my grand daughter and buying this one. Now I'm not sure.

Costco has similar one from Lenovo and it has a touchscreen feature plus FP.

Does that one have a backlit keyboard like the I3 I posted?
EDIT: Comments in the I5 Walmart listing state it is not backlit like the I3 at Target. So not identical outside CPU. So for the money I am going to stick with the 2 I purchased from Target @ $284 each after the Redcard discount. $66 cheaper than that I5. I still think it's a steal.

Yeah agreed this is a great deal. Good catch on the missing backlit keyboard on the other machine.

Also nice that it comes in S mode. Anybody who can't get the OS out of S mode is probably better off staying in S mode laugh out loud .

Confirmed. I'm at Walmart now. No backlit keyboard on the I5 model.
