This is very good for use as a DAC but do not buy it for headphone use.

From audiosciencereview.com:

"Someone just tapped the RCA outs and brought it to the front and called it done. This is wrong as the RCA out typically has high impedance in the order of 100 ohm we see here. That high impedance causes a ton of power loss as we see in the 33 ohm test. And rules out using vast majority of headphones out there as it will interact with their impedance and change their frequency response (tonality).

In one line: this is a useless addition. You could get an RCA to 3.5mm female adapter and have the same on any other DAC.

Conclusions
Unlike some other Topping DAC clone we have tested, the DAC portion of Lavaudio DS600 delivers the goods....."
Convince yourself. Buy it from amazon, and if you do not think it improves your music return it. For me, I felt that even a $100 topping D10s DAC (with op amp upgrade) sounded significantly better than the DAC in my $2500 arcam avr390 receiver.

The headphone out was supposedly upgraded in the 1.3 revision of the unit. But I have no idea if it's ok or decent now.

Quote :
[Headphone DAC Amp] Upgraded version 1.3 added two current amplifier chips of BUF634, now you can use it as a headphone amp (can drive headphones 16-150Ω). DS600 uses 2*ES9038Q2M and XMOS XU208 DAC chips with unprecedented dynamic range and ultra-low distortion. THD+N as low as 0.00012% and SNR greater than 126dB. Retaining more abundant music details, restores better sound, bring you the sound of touching soul.
An alternative DAC option would be the Topping DX3 Pro+ or SMSL C200 when on sale. Those were around $170 and 175 during BlackFriday/CyberMonday.

Haven't really noticed any issues with my headphones on mine. Just tossed on a 300ohm 6XX and a Hifiman X4 to be sure.

This is a solid little unit, basically a Topping D50S clone. The amp is weak but it's enough for most IEM's and the v1.3 upgraded the amp portion so it may be plenty for easier to drive full-size headphones. This is the listed power:

Quote :
Drive Ability:16-150 Ω .
Output Power :230mW(16Ω); 204mW(32Ω)
If you need more power I would look elsewhere if you don't want to combo this with a dedicated amp.

Is this one-way bluetooth (input) or can this also send to bluetooth speakers (output)? Looking for something to do around a pool area without having to worry about a lot of AV wiring.

The DAC in this is noticeably cleaner/clearer than the DAC in my Emotiva PT-100. I use the USB in with my iPhone as the source (through a USB Camera adapter) and I think it sounds great at $125. Still want to try the Geshelli J2. But this does very well and the Bluetooth connection has been very solid. For best results though use USB, optical or coax.

Bluetooth is only for input, so it will NOT output to your bluetooth speakers.
On the upside, Bluetooth is implemented fairly well and connection is stable, and sound quality is good in LDAC mode.

As far as DACs go, this one is pretty decent for $125 and does not do anything wrong. My iFi iDSD micro definitely produces better sound (less grainy, less flat, more depth) but ds600 is much more convenient in some cases. Ah, DS600 sound is actually fairly grainy with included cheap usb power supply, but its sound improves quite a bit with improved power supply.

Can someone pls suggest if I can use this for below use case.

Projector audio out put in our church room to mixing console. It is not significant Arial distance. But basically technician forgot to run audio hardwire and to run now.. it's about 50ft to go up into attic and down to mixer.

I can confirm. The DAC was noticeably cleaner than the one built into my Rotel 1576 mk 2. I almost regret getting rid of it.

I don't understand this product. Last I checked Bluetooth audio was really really bad. Has it gotten better? Why would someone waste a hifi setup on Bluetooth audio?
