Love my A6A. Yamaha even doubled the warranty duration a year ago. The only thing I don't like are the "nannies". Theres a significant watts drop per channel when you go from 4 to 5 and higher channels. To be honest with my klipsch 5.1.2 in wall RP pros it doesn't matter since they don't require many watts to get to reference levels. To others it may be an issue. Great AVR. Nice and heavy. Built well. Love the music cast app too. Runs hot but never had a problem yet. 3 hours of lord of rings and runs fine.

Be sure to take a look at the link below prior to pulling the trigger. Good luck.

I know it has preamp outs because I was looking at it a while back. I ended up getting a Denon AVR-X3600H, and I added an Outlaw 5 channel amp for Front Left, Center, Right and 2 rears. I used the Denon amp section for the rest of the surround channel for a 7.4.2 setup. It really works great.

Is this good for gaming? How does it compare to the Onkyo tx Rz50?
I need a receiver with at least 2 HDMI 2.1 inputs so I can do 4k @120hz with HDR for my PS5 and my gaming PC to my C1 OLED. I need support for vrr ultra low latency, etc.
I have a 5.2.4 setup and my current Onkyo rz740 has a buggy HDMI and it's a pain to use because it's only HDMI 2.0

Should I get this or just get the rz50?
Quick research I found:

Whathifi says: The Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A, RX-A6A and RX-A4A are all set to offer seven HDMI 2.1 inputs and three outputs supporting 8K@60Hz/4K@120Hz.

This guy did a review on firmware 1.73 which brought VRR and auto low latency features:
https://youtu.be/u7X6lfkO190

So it appears it's good for gaming. Can't say how it compares to the Onkyo, not familiar.

I'm getting a new marantz sr7015 from a coworker for $1100. Is there any reason I should buy this instead? I know that the 7015 isn't their best model and doesn't have wide speaker inputs, but other then that, is there any reason I should buy this new instead? I'm fairly new to the home theater game and am currently rocking the yamaha TSR-700 from costco.
SR7015 is on the HDMI naughty list:

It's compatible and one of the few All in One AVR with XLR preout. It doesn't have "preamp mode" per channel pair like the new Denon and Marantz though but has a superior ESS DAC

Big upgrades for someone just getting into it. More power to you (ha) though the 700 is plenty capable for most users. What features are missing from your 700 that have you looking for an upgrade?

I have a yamaha soundbar with receiver that ahs a tiny built in sub, which is good for an apartment. Now my receiver broke. I wish they had a recent model like that! It also ahs hdmi passthrough and 3 hdmi INs. Now seems to be nothing from ANY brand that is like that.

It depends on your needs?
Why do you need to replace it?
For higher watt power to drive my Polk Audio RTI-12.
sometimes I have to turn the volume to 80 to get the desired theater sound.

The newer production runs apparently are not plagued with the hdmi 2.1 problem with Xbox running 120hz. I was skeptic too at first, simply due to the $1100 price tag. The unit I'm considering has a newer serial # though.

I recently scored b&k 7250, 5 channel amp that I was eager to connect with my TSR-700 only to find out that it had pre-outs for only the front channels. So now I have a 95lbs 200w/channel beast just sitting here. Marantz has been a big name in the av game and the price is right @ $1100 so the sr7015 has peaked my interest.

The wait is over, time to replace the RX-A3000! Thank you OP!
Well...replace is not correct...I'll use the RX-A3000 in pure direct mode to off-load some of the RX-A6A's amp duties and reach 11.2 capability.

I'm fairly new to AVs and I bought Denon S760H from Costco and klipsch RP 280FA, RP 404c and REL sub. I was hearing online that the AV's don't give the power to the speakers and need an amplifier. Denon is giving only 75w per channel and these klipsch need more I think. So am external amplifier is a must?
